DECATUR - Former Illinois State golfer Hilary Anderson of Decatur won two matches Thursday and advanced into today's championship flight final in the Illinois State Women's Amateur Golf Championship at Red Tail Run, while Stacey Miller of Bloomington lost in the semifinals.
Anderson beat Mary Kay Thanos-Zordani of Chicago, 5 and 3, in the quarterfinals before knocking off qualifying medalist Seul-Ki Park of Northbrook, 1-up, in the semifinals. Park had eliminated Jan Bowers of Lincoln in the quarterfinals, 5 and 4.
Kerry Postillion of Burr Ridge ousted Anderson's former ISU teammate, Miller, 1-up in the other semifinal. Miller beat Ana North of Rock Island, 5 and 4, in the quarterfinals.
Anderson and Postillion meet at 9:30 this morning.
Kathy Niepagen of Bloomington and Erin Bradley of Normal advanced to their respective flight finals today.
Niepagen beat Colleen Dold of Decatur, 2 and 1, and plays Jackie Schwarz of McHenry in the fourth flight final at 8:20 a.m. Bradley downed Joann Ryan of Peoria, 2 and 1, and faces Erin McGinnis of McHenry in the fifth flight final at 8 a.m.
Lauren May of St. Charles beat Wendy Evans of Mahomet, 6 and 5, in a first-flight quarterfinal match. In the second flight semifinals, Nichole Inkel-Pongracz of Chatham edged Kim Bailey of Gibson City in 19 holes and Lindsey Haines of Crete ousted Katherine Hepler of Lincoln, 4 and 3.
