BLOOMINGTON — The Bloomington Edge indoor football team looks to close out its summer exhibition season undefeated on Sunday when it plays host to the Illinois Renegades at Grossinger Motors Arena.

The Edge is 4-0 and has averaged 62.5 points per game. Among the catalysts have been running back Dominique Stevenson from Normal West High School and slot receiver Dominic Hilt, a Central Catholic graduate.

Stevenson was a 1,000-yard rusher for Normal West and a first-team all-Big 12 Conference performer as a senior. He tried out for the Edge previously, but did not make the active roster until this season.

Stevenson loves the game, but keeps sports in perspective.

“You can only play football for so long,” he said. “No matter how good you are, you still have to prepare for your life after sports. Football doesn’t define you as a man. Enjoy your time in the game and make the most of it.”

Hilt has lined up at running back and receiver and also is the backup quarterback. In addition to playing at Central Catholic, he was a walk-on at Illinois State as a junior.

“Don’t ever take a loss or failure as an end,” Hilt said of his playing career. “Without failure, you can’t learn and grow. The only person that will prevent you from reaching your goals is you.”

Kickoff is at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets and information are available www.bloomingtonedge.net, the Bloomington Edge Facebook page or by calling (484)-840-EDGE.
