BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Extreme football team signed five more players, including three former Illinois State Redbirds, after a recent tryout camp.

The three ex-Redbirds and former Twin City Storm players are linebacker Calvin Jones, defensive lineman Darren McClanahan and wide receiver Scott Winter.

Jones played at Normal Community from 1999 to 2002, where he earned all-conference and all-state honorable mention. In his first year with the Storm, he was the second-leading tackler on the team and played in the all-star game.

The other two signees are wide receiver John Hamrin, who played at Augustana College; and defensive back Le'Undo Adams, who most recently played at Arkansas State.

"We had around 50 guys from all over the state show up for tryouts," Extreme assistant coach Mike Murray said. "That was more than what we were expecting, and we were impressed with the talent we saw.

"(Hamrin) drew our attention because of his speed. He was the quickest player out there," head coach Ted Schmitz said.

The Extreme will sign around 40 players but will have a training camp in March to cut the roster down to 25 active players.
