5 years ago (2001): Junior quarterback Andre Brown set a Bloomington High single-game record with 16 completions in 27 attempts while senior Joey Fish tied the school mark of seven receptions in a 44-0 football victory at Danville. Brown threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns.

15 years ago (1991): Tod Stevenson, who retired from softball last season, continued to spark the Bloomington Hearts since rejoining the team six weeks ago by lashing three hits for three runs batted in during an 11-3 victory over the Forrest Express in the ASA State Softball Tournament at O'Neil Park.

25 years ago (1981): Erik Graybeal, 13, of Bloomington captured top honors in the AMA National Short Track Championships at Niles, Mich., in the 12-15 age schoolboy class. Graybeal, who rode a 125 cc motorcycle, placed eighth in an amateur event the previous day at Niles.

50 years ago (1956): The Moose Lodge can thank George Halfmann Jr. of the Indees for giving them the Municipal League baseball pennant. Halfmann finished the job of rag-clinching for the Moose by pitching the Indees to a 4-3 decision over the American Legion. He also excelled at the plate with a single and double.
