5 years ago (2001): A reliable presence on Illinois State's offensive line for the past 31/2 seasons, Andy King was rewarded when he was named to the Gateway Football Conference all-star team. He led ISU with 94 knockdown blocks this past season and set a school record with 23 knockdowns against Southeast Missouri State.

15 years ago (1991): Ron Curry, a Bloomington High School graduate, scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half to led Marquette over Northern Illinois in basketball, 78-71. Curry, playing on a sore knee, also had eight rebounds and made 7 of 8 field goal attempts in just 18 minutes of play.

25 years ago (1981): Dale White came off the bench to spark Illinois State with 23 points as the Redbirds opened their season with a 92-75 victory over Mississippi Valley State. Something about the Delta Devils brings out the best in White. Last year, he scored 30 points against the Mississippians.

50 years ago (1956): University High named guard Dan Riddle and quarterback Marty O'Connor to be co-captains for the 1957 football squad. Both were outstanding in their junior seasons for the Pioneers, who enjoyed a 5-4 campaign.
