5 years ago (2002): A championship aura was in the air at Olympia High School as the school's Class A state champion baseball and softball teams were greeted by a gym full of families, friends and fans. Softball coach Al Toliver and baseball coach Ron Smith thanked their players, assistant coaches and the parents.

15 years ago (1992): Dunlap held off University High's late charge for a 5-4 victory in the U High Class A Sectional championship softball game at Maxwell Park. The Pioneers, who beat Dunlap 4-2 in last season's sectional title game, closed at 25-3.

25 years ago (1982): The Bloomington Budweiser fastpitch softball team, behind the three-hit pitching of Jack Burkhart, defeated Gibson City 6-0 to win the rain-delayed Gibson City Memorial Day Tournament championship.

50 years ago (1957): McLean's defending Tri-Valley League champions rode the pitching of Jack Chick to their third straight triumph, beating Hartsburg 3-0. Chick struck out 16 batters and blanked the losers on just three hits.
