NORMAL - Normal Community High School girls basketball star Emily Hanley has been named Big 12 Conference Player of the Year for the second straight season.
Hanley, a senior center and Eastern Michigan recruit, shared the honor this year with Allie Lindemann of Champaign Central. Hanley also was named first-team all-conference for the third year in a row.
She was among six repeat selections to the first team. Others were Bloomington junior Kristin Petrinec, Decatur Eisenhower's Raisa Taylor, and Champaign Central's Lindemann, Eunice Gill and Hope Elam.
Rounding out the first unit were junior Kelly Carter of Bloomington, senior Krystal Gundy of Normal Community, senior Allison Shelton of Normal West, Kendra Smith of Champaign Centennial, Shadonna Beard of Danville, Sarah Wagner of Mattoon and Tabitha Makopondo of Urbana.
