The Central Catholic High School softball team pushed across three runs in the ninth inning Monday to take a 6-3 Illini Prairie Conference win over Prairie Central at Fairbury.

Addison Casner's three-run home run in the bottom of the first staked Prairie Central to an early 3-1 lead. Central Catholic battled back with a run in the fifth and another in the sixth to send the game into extra innings.

Harley Schade led Central Catholic's 14-hit attack with four hits. Kayla Stenger added two hits, including a double, and an RBI.

Winning pitcher Bailey Coffman (5-5) also had two RBIs for the Saints (9-8, 1-1). Prairie Central fell to 7-6, 0-1.

Standish powers Lexington-Ridgeview: Illinois State recruit Jayden Standish was 3 for 3 with two home runs and five RBIs in Lexington-Ridgeview's 15-13 win over El Paso-Gridley at El Paso.

Post, Heyworth top LeRoy: Claire Post homered and doubled while driving home three runs to lead the Hornets to a 7-2 Heart of Illinois Conference win at LeRoy.

Edwards leads Dwight: Katy Edwards struck out 16 and allowed no earned runs in leading Dwight to a 20-5 nonconference win over host Gardner-South Wilmington. Edwards also had a triple among her three hits and five RBIs.

Fox stars for Pontiac: Amanda Fox was the winning pitcher and also had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in three runs in Pontiac's 6-1 home win over Tolono Unity.

WFC rolls: Sydnee Plesko was 4-for-4 with two RBIs and Ella Sibert had a pair of doubles among her three hits as Woodland-Flanagan-Cornell grabbed a 13-0, five-inning win over host Lowpoint-Washburn.

McAllister paces Tremont: Paige McAllister had three hits and also struck out 10 in Tremont's 13-1, five-inning home win over Deer Creek-Mackinaw.


Saints win Illini Prairie opener: Patrick Mulcahey belted a home run and also had a double among his three hits as the Central Catholic baseball team scored a 10-0 win over Prairie Central at Fairbury.

The Saints scored eight runs in the sixth inning to break open a pitchers' duel. Central ended with 11 hits. Jonathan Naour added two hits and an RBI. Naour also was the winning pitcher, combining with starter Ethan Carr and closer Michael Escobar on a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts.

The Saints improved to 3-9 overall in their Illini Prairie Conference opener.

Olympia routs St. Thomas More: Sam Litwiller had a double and triple among his three hits and drove in three runs to help the Spartans to a 10-0, five-inning Illini Prairie Conference win over St. Thomas More at Stanford. Hunter Berges also doubled and tripled for Olympia. Winning pitcher Andrew Nichols shut out St. Thomas More on three hits and had three singles at the plate.

Wagenbach, Tremont edge Dee-Mack: Ryan Wagenbach homered and had three RBIs in the Turks' 5-3 Heart of Illinois Conference win at Tremont.

Eureka rallies: Drew Rudsinski homered for Tri-Valley, but Eureka pushed across an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh for a 4-3 Heart of Illinois Conference win over the Vikings at Eureka.
