Senior standout Lauren Shanks scored all three goals Monday as Central Catholic High School's girls soccer team won 3-1 at Monticello, capping off an undefeated Illini Prairie Conference championship for the Saints.

Madalyn Yaklich had two assists and Johanna Schwemer one for Central, which went 8-0 in the Illini Prairie and is 13-8-1 overall. The Saints outshot Monticello, 25-4, with Kylee Hadley making three saves.

Central opens Class 1A regional play Tuesday at 5 p.m. against Peoria Christian at Chillicothe.

U High rolls: Julia Herrman had three goals as University High cruised to a 10-0 Central State Eight win at Decatur Eisenhower. Also scoring for U High were Bree Cordray, Celeste Noraian, Toni Poland, Piper Schuring, Meredith Heller, Sammy Lighty and goalkeeper Sophie Dorgan.

Heller had two assists and Herrman one.

SOFTBALL

U High cruises to sweep: Makaylea Sepich had three hits and five RBIs and Maddie Roop struck out six in a three-inning no-hitter as University High rolled past Decatur Eisenhower, 19-0, at Decatur. Roop (9-4) also had a double and three RBIs.

The Pioneers won the second game, 18-1, as Addie Steward (1-0) allowed no hits and struck out six in four innings. Steward also had two hits and Abby Knight hit a home run and drove in three for U High (21-5).

Saints edge Unity: Harley Schade allowed one run in six innings to get the win and Bailey Coffman got the save as Central Catholic slipped past Tolono Unity, 2-1, in Illini Prairie play at Tolono.

Coffman also had a double and an RBI for the Saints (19-10, 5-2), while Diane Tomczak drove in Central's other run.

Pontiac outlasts Prairie Central: Alyssa Fox had four hits and Regan Krause struck out 14 in eight innings of relief as Pontiac edge Prairie Central, 6-5, in 14 innings at Fairbury to clinch the Illini Prairie championship.

Addison Casner had four hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs for Prairie Central.

Eberle fans 18: Madi Eberle struck out 18 and also had three doubles and an RBI in GCMS' 7-0 home win over Deer Creek-Mackinaw.

Eureka edges Lexington: Marah Miller delivered a game-winning single with one out in the seventh to give the Hornets a 6-5, win at Eureka. ISU recruit Jayden Standish had a solo home run in the fourth for Lexington.

Bargmann paces LeRoy: Tiffany Bargmann had a double among her three hits and drove in two runs as LeRoy won 8-4 at Rantoul.

Yanek fuels Streator: Anna Yanek had three hits and three RBIs and also pitched a two-hitter in Streator's 9-1 home victory over Peotone.

BASEBALL

Hardman sparks U High: Nate Hardman had three of University High's six hits in a 12-1, five-inning victory at Mount Zion. Hardman drove in a run, while Paul Africano knocked in two. Karson Bonaparte allowed no earned runs in four innings to get the win.

Saints fall at Tolono: Zach Tomerlin drove in two runs as Central Catholic dropped a 6-3 Illini Prairie decision at Tolono Unity. Ben Winslow (3-1) took the loss for the Saints (10-15, 3-4).

Rhoda hurls gem: Ryan Rhoda struck out 12 as Prairie Central downed visiting Pontiac, 6-1.

Allen lifts Fieldcrest: McKoy Allen pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts, leading Fielcrest past Heyworth, 2-0, at Wenona.

Zenor keys Tri-Valley: Braden Zenor had a double among his three hits and drove in a run in Tri-Valley's 10-7 home victory over Champaign Centennial.

Olympia tips Eureka: Josh Devore had a walkoff RBI single and Sam Litwiller had four hits in Olympia's 11-10 win over Eureka at Stanford.

Burge leads Tremont: Jake Burge had a home run, a double and four RBIs in Tremont's 17-2, five-inning road win over El Paso-Gridley.

Crouch paces Dwight: Carson Crouch struck out 13 and had two hits as Dwight downed visiting Momence, 9-1.
