Tremont High School caught 12.03 pounds of fish to win the IHSA bass fishing sectional at Evergreen Lake north of Hudson on Monday.
Peoria Notre Dame was second (11.41 pounds) and Deer Creek-Mackinaw advanced third (11.27). Fourth-place Pekin (10.87) narrowly missed advancing to the May 18-19 state tournament at Carlyle Lake.
Tremont's roster included Logan Roller, Garrett Rollins, Jacob Pierce and Dylan Michel. Dee-Mack's lineup consisted of Jake Golden, Trevor Neville, Kaleb Hill and Nick Carlson.
Tremont's No. 2 boat (8.68) was sixth in the 15-boat field while Hartsburg-Emden's first boat was ninth (7.62) and its seond boat was 12th (4.89). Lincoln's boats were 10th (5.99) and 13th (3.65).
Clinton advances to state: Clinton caught 7 pounds and 11.52 ounces of fish to advance third from the Clinton Lake Sectional where Cerro Gordo won (16 pounds, 0.63 ounces) and Maroa-Forsyth was second (8 pounds, 14.08 ounces).
Clinton's squad included Bryce and Brett Reeves. Blue Ridge was 13th (2 pounds, 7.84 ounces).
Pontiac 10th at Braidwood: Pontiac's No. 1 boat caught 6 pounds, 2 ounces of fish to placed 10th in the Braidwood Lake Sectional. Pontiac's other boat finished 15th (2 pounsd, 7 ounces). Dwight was 14th (2 pounds, 11 ounces).
Momence won with 12 pounds.
Rector, Raiders win: Reid Rector belted a three-run home run and had five RBIs to lead Bloomington to a 16-3 Big 12 Conference win over host Peoria.
Jack Henry added two hits and two RBIs for the Purple Raiders (13-12, 3-6), who also received a pair of hits from Brian Jome and Jesse Goropesek.
Alec Coontz claimed his first pitching win of the season in his first decision, after striking out five and relinquishing six hits.
Saints drop Pontiac: Gage Juarez had two hits and two RBIs for Central Catholic (10-10) in a 9-3 victory at Pontiac.
Sam Tallon had three of the Saints' 11 hits. Teammate Braden Glowacki drove in two runs. Jacob Duffy drove in two runs for Pontiac, which got two hits apiece from Ben Schuler and Eric Watson.
Tri-Valley romps: Winning pitcher Matt Mier (4-1) fanned nine while pitching a three-hit, five-inning shutout for Tri-Valley (17-6, 10-2) during an 11-0 victory over Fieldcrest (7-10, 5-6) at Minonk. The Vikings' Jake Reeser and Dayne Wiggins both had three hits including two doubles, while Matt Manint had three hits and two RBIs.
Eureka sinks Heyworth: Brady Krile had two hits and three RBIs for Eureka in a 9-0 win over visiting Heyworth. Krile and fellow Hornet Andrew Streit combined on a two hitter.
GCMS blanks PBL: Nathan Garard tossed a four-hitter to key GCMS to a 5-0 victory over PBL at Paxton. Garard helped his cause with a two-run double.
Clinton edges Sullivan: Winning pitcher Jake Wade also belted a two-run homer in the fifth inning in Clinton's 7-6 win at Sullivan. Mac Hickman drove home the game-winning run for the Maroons in the seventh. Clinton received three hits and four RBIs from Braden Cross.
U High romps twice: University High dominated host Springfield Lanphier by scores of 15-0 and 18-0 with the second game featuring four Pioneer pitchers combining on a four-inning no-hitter.
In the opener, Elena Roiley had a home run and three RBIs for U High. Winning pitcher Maddie Roop tossed a one hitter while striking out five. She helped her cause with two hits and three RBIs.
In the nightcap, starter Jen Kuhn got the win and got no-hit relief help from Grace Matheis, Kelsey Torrez and Lexus Tennison. Kuhn also keyed the offense with a grand slam. Teammate Emily O'Leary homered and tripled to drive in four runs.
Saints win in 11 innings: Charlie Sartoris singled in Leah Eppley in the bottom of the 11th inning to make Cenral Catholic (24-7, 8-1) a 4-3 winner over visiting Tolono Unity (10-14, 3-6). Winning pitcher Izzy vetter (12-1) fanned 18 while walking two and giving up two earned runs.
Vetter had two of the Saints' 11 hits. Teammate Harley Schade drove in two runs.
NCHS splits: Mack Leonard (13-1) fanned 12 and walked two while pitching Normal Community (14-5) to a 10-2 victory over visiting Moline, which won the opening game of the twinbill, 8-5.
Jenna White stroked a three-run home run in the sixth inning of the Iron's win. Teammate Reece Johnson had three hits and four RBIs.
In the first game, Jessica Laughlin had a two-run homer in the seventh inning for NCHS, which got three hits, including two doubles, from losing pitcher Kaci Shickel (0-4).
BHS falls: Mount Zion scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to win, 5-4, over visiting Bloomington (5-18). Maddie Christiansen had two hits and two RBIs for the Purple Raiders while teammate Ellie Weltha also had two RBIs.
LeRoy swamps Blue Ridge: Kelly Smith had a home run among her three hits to drive in one run for LeRoy (18-10, 8-3) in a 13-0, five-inning victory over visiting Blue Ridge. Danielle Hanshew had two doubles and one RBI for the Panthers while winning pitcher Charly Warlow helped her cause with three hits and three RBIs.
Eureka tips Heyworth: Quincy Boschulte fanned nine and walked one during a five-hit pitching performance for Eureka (12-7, 7-4) in a 2-1 victory over visiting Heyworth. Julia Punke had two hits and drove in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning for Eureka. Heyworth's Morgan Spencer had two doubles.
Tri-Valley tops Lincoln Sydney Garrels had a two-run double for Tri-Valley in a 3-1 victory at Lincoln. The Railsplitters had eight hits including three by Jacey Cooper.
Tremont downs Fieldcrest: Abby Leber had two hits for Tremont in a 4-2 victory over Fieldcrest at Minonk. The Knights' Emma Lorton took the loss despite fanning 14, walking none and allowing just two earned runs in seven innings.
Streator loses: Aubrey Durdan's home run and three RBIs were not enough for Streator in a 12-5 loss at Peotone.
EPG falls to St. Bede: Despite Cheyenne Carr's three-run homer in the fourth inning, El Paso-Gridley (6-13) lost to visiting Peru St. Bede, 7-3. Carr also had a double to drive in three runs.
Shanks, Central top Monticello: Lauren Shanks scored four goals and added two assists to lead Central Catholic to an 8-1 win over Monticello at Bill Hundman Field.
Sarah Brady added two goals and an assist for the Saints, who improved to 11-8-1.
Central outshot Monticello 8-1 and also received goals from Mia Sivore and Katie Steinman.
Prairie Central 5th at Coal City: Prairie Central scored 34.5 points to finish fifth in the 10-team Black Diamond Classic at Coal City. Dwight was sixth (29).
The area's lone winner was Dwight's Julie Ramsey in the 100 hurdles (17.45). Prairie Central's 400 relay placed second (52.75) as did Olivia Weber in the high jump (4-11).
