Reganne Camp (9-3) allowed three hits while walking none and striking out seven in a complete-game effort for the Wildcats (16-5).
West's Ellie Sonentz and Brooklyn Bane singled and advanced on a passed ball in the seventh. With a full count and two outs, Jefferson ripped a double down the third-base line off Alaina Hoffman to give the Wildcats the lead. Sonentz, Sara Whiteley, Amberson Collinson and Jefferson each had two of the Wildcats' nine hits.
Edwards sparks U High: Morgan Edwards's two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning proved to be the difference in University High's 6-3 nonconference win over Williamsville at IWU Field in Bloomington. Braelyn Cole had two hits and an RBI for the Pioneers (19-5) while Lauri Riddell (6-1) picked up the win in the circle.
Saints come up short: An early 6-0 deficit proved too much for Central Catholic to overcome as the Saints (14-8) dropped a 10-7 nonconference decision to Illinois Valley Central at Bloomington. Madeline Holt had three hits and an RBI while Caroline chipped in two hits and an RBI for the Saints. Mallorie Segobiano (1-2) took the loss.
Fairfield lifts Fisher: Molly Farifield's two-run single in the bottom of the fifth proved to be the game winner as host Fisher (16-11, 5-6) in a 3-1 win over of Heart of Illinois Conference foe Deer Creek-Mackinaw.
Maranda Schaley's solo home run in the first plated the only run for Dee-Mack.
Fieldcrest dumps FWC: Haley Ruestman had four hits and one RBI, Taylor Tjaden added three hits and drove in two, and Fiedlcrest used a seven-run fifth inning to dispatch Flanagan-Woodland-Cornell, 10-0, in six innings at Minonk. Lauren Tjaden struck out eight while holding the Falcons to just one hit.
Houston's arm supports hot Clinton bats: Shalyn Houston pitched a two-hit shutout, and Haley Ginger went four for five at the plate with three RBIs as Clinton routed Decatur St. Teresa 12-0 on the road.
Houston (11-2) allowed just one walk and fanned four Bulldogs. Nichole Brewer added two hits for the Maroons.
Tremont upends GCMS: Jaycee Craver pitched six strong innings, and Wesley Woodard and Ashley Reinbeck added two RBIS each as Tremont downded Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, 9-0, in Heart of Illinois Conference play.
Craver struck out 10 Falcons, and didn't allow a walk. Jill Runyon collected four hits.
EPG churns out HOIC victory: Maegan Stone pitched around nine hits for a complete game, and the Titan offense did enough to give El Paso-Gridley a 4-1 Heart of Illinois Conference win over Heyworth. Stone limited the damage with eight strikeouts and no walks. Shelby Fulk provided EPG (11-2, 4-7 HOIC) with a spark with two hits, including a triple, and 2 RBIs.
Dwight rolls: Dezi Leonard hit a grand slam, while Hannah Trainor struck out seven as host Dwight downed Plano, 11-1, in a five-inning Interstate Eight Conference game.
LeRoy bounces PBL: Payton Risinger was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs and LeRoy pounded out 20 hits in an 18-0 nonconference win over Paxton-Buckley-Loda in five innings at Paxton.
Tri-Valley cruises: Meghan Fitzgerald had two hits and two RBIs and Ashley Carr threw a one-hitter with seven strikeouts in Tri-Valley's 19-0 HOIC win over Ridgeview at Downs.
BHS nips Notre Dame: Deion Thompson and Chris Tompkins each had two RBIs in a four-run first inning as Bloomington held off Peoria Notre Dame, 5-4, at the CIProud Challenge at Dozer Park in Peoria.
Nick Chapman (2-1) went the distance for the Raiders (14-12), scattering five hits while striking out four and yielding just one earned run. T.J. Christensen chipped in two hits for BHS.
Eureka blanks Prairie Central: Kody Silverthorn gave up two hits and struck out 13 to lead host Eureka to a 3-0 victory over Prairie Central in a Corn Belt Conference game.
Fisher rolls: Brad Pettenger and Will Gollihur each had two hits and two RBIs to back the one-hit, six strikeout pitching of Hayden Fiedler (2-1) as host Fisher (12-13) posted a 10-0 five-inning HOIC win over Deer Creek-Mackinaw.
Tri-Valley gets walk-off win: Peyton Roop's RBI single in the bottom of the seventh plated Phillip Westerfield with the game-winner as Tri-Valley (11-13) edged Ridgeview, 8-7, in HOIC play at Downs. Alex Smith chipped in three hits for the Vikings.
Corey Volz had two hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs for Ridgeview.
West second in Morton Relays: Normal West won seven events and finished a close second in the Morton Relays.
Chatham Glenwood was the champion with 105 points, three more than the Wildcats.
West won the shot put, discus, triple jump and pole vault relays, which had three participants each. Kyrin Tucker set meet records in the shot put (58 feet, 10 inches) and discus (181-3).
The Wildcats also were first in the 800, 1,600 sprint medley and shuttle relays.
Tremont girls victorious: Amelia Glueck won the 100 (11.98 seconds) and 200-meter (25.85) dashes, bested the field in the long jump (17-02.50) and anchored the winning 400-meter relay team (51.70) as host Tremont scored 112 points to claim top honors at the eight-team Tremont invitational.
The Turks' Haley Miller won the 1,600 (5;24.75) and 3200 (11:24.0) runs while Tessa Holland of Fieldcrest was victorious in the 300-meter hurdles (48.85) and high jump (5-6).
Caleb Imig of the Tremont boy's team won the 1,600 (4:41.49) and 3,200 (10:07.90) runs as the Turks finished third with 110.50 points.
