PEKIN -- Bloomington grabbed an early 6-0 lead and held off Pekin down the stretch to pick up a 6-4 nonconference win Friday.

Kyle Johnson doubled twice and drove in two runs, Matthew Mardis had a solo homer while Donny Kirk plated a pair of runs to lead BHS (14-11).

Jack Cerny (3-4) scattered nine hits over 6 1/3 innings while striking out six to get the win. Mardis got the last two outs for his first save.

Pekin fell to 13-7.
