HENNEPIN -- The Woodland-Flanagan-Cornell High School baseball team pounded out 14 hits en route to a 6-4 win over Putnam County in the championship game of the Class 1A Granville Sectional on Monday at Hennepin.

Mason Erschen, Andrew Katcher and Nate Roemer each had two hits and an RBI as the Falcons tagged Putnam County starting pitcher Josh Peterson for five hits and three runs in just 1 1/3 innings.

Alex Bullard scattered five hits and struck out nine over six innings for the win while Erschen held off a Putnam County rally in the seventh to pick up the save.

WFC advances to a Lisle Supersectional match-up against Lanark Eastland at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
