Drew Mills buried a 10-foot shot with 2.2-seconds to play to give the Pontiac High School boys’ basketball team a 49-47 nonconference win over El Paso-Gridley on Tuesday night at Pontiac.
Mills’ bucket gave him a game-high 17 points. Zac Justus added 12 points for the Indians, who enjoyed a 21-15 halftime lead.
El Paso-Gridley’s Taylor Augsburger drilled three 3-pointers in the third quarter as the Titans roared back from the halftime deficit to take a 38-35 lead into the final period.
Pontiac sank all nine of its free throw attempts in the fourth quarter to outscore the Titans 14-9.
Augsburger led EPG with 14 points. Austin Ahnafield and Tyler Ramsey added 12 and 10, respectively.
Eureka 43, Tremont 35: Cooper Scherer scored 11 points while Kent Hinrichsen and Connor Steffen added eight each as the Hornets held off the Turks in a nonconference game at Tremont.
Matt Brent had a game-high 13 points for Tremont, which also received 10 points from Tyler McDonald.
Tri-Point 76, Flanagan-Cornell 74: Tri-Point overcame a 61-56 deficit in the final period to score a nonconference win at Cullom. Timmy Crouch led the Chargers with 24 points. Josh Flessner added 18 and Jordan Hamilton 17 for Tri-Point.
