FAIRBURY — The No. 8-state ranked Central Catholic High School basketball team won its 12th consecutive game, 70-27, over Prairie Central on Tuesday.
The Saints improved to 18-5 overall and 7-0 in the Illini Prairie Conference while the Hawks fell to 6-16 and 0-6.
James Morris led Central with 14 points. Austyn Ellison added 12 followed by Luke Yoder and Tommy Nelson with 10 apiece.
Logan Bryne scored six points to lead Prairie Central, which trailed 18-2 after one quarter and 23-3 after two.
"I thought the first half, we played really well," said Central coach Jason Welch. "They had a hard time getting a quality shot off. I thought our communication on defense was really good."
The Saints were able to fastbreak off their halfcourt defense.
"I thought our guys were really unselfish," Welch added. "They have been most of the year, consequently we had four guys in double figures."
