DANVILLE — The No. 7-state ranked Ridgeview High School basketball team, powered by 25 points apiece from Jacob Donaldson and Justin Myers, downed St. Anne, 57-52, in the Class 1A Danville Schlarman Sectional final on Friday.
Donaldson also grabbed 10 rebounds while Myers had five steals and four assists.
The Mustangs (28-4) will face No. 4 Annawan (29-3) in Tuesday's 7 p.m. super-sectional at Redbird Arena.
St. Anne bolted to a 17-11 lead after one quarter, but Ridgeview forced a 29-29 tie by halftime. The Mustangs controlled the third quarter, 15-9, to take a 44-38 lead into the final quarter.
Mico Sullivan led the Cardinals (15-15) with 19 points while Travis DeYoung added 13 and Sion Lightfoot 10.
"It was a great matchup," said Ridgeview coach Rodney Kellar after his school captured its fifth sectional crown and third in four years. "Defensively, we kind of turned the tide in the second quarter.
"Our goal was to hold them under 60. That gave us a chance to win."
Ridgeview overcame foul trouble thanks to a slew of intangibles that went its way.
"To win a game like this, you have to have those," Kellar said. "I look forward to practicing tomorrow and playing again next week.
"It was a good atmosphere (at Schlarman). It's a throwback gym where we won three years ago. We were able to repeat again."
