Sophomore Cody Coit scored 20 points, including 11 in the first quarter, to lead Hartsburg-Emden High School past Blue Ridge, 62-53, in a nonconference basketball game Saturday night at Farmer City.
Coit hit three 3-pointers in the opening quarter as Hartem raced to a 23-13 lead. He finished with six 3s.
Brody Baker and Alex Vetter added 12 points each for the Stags, while Zach Phillips scored 10. Blue Ridge (4-19) was led by Dane Houser with 15 points and Sam Duggins with 11.
Lanark Eastland 54, Dwight 53: Cal Schultz scored 15 points and Dakota Wahl added 14 but the Trojans (2-24) fell in the Riverton Coaches vs. Cancer Shootout. Ethan Christians totaled 25 points and 12 rebounds for Eastland.
Season ends for Intercity trio, Streator: Three individual bowlers from Intercity schools did not advance from the LaSalle-Peru Sectional held at the Illinois Valley Super Bowl in Peru.
Bloomington senior Kristi Collins topped the area competitors with a six-game score of 1,075. Normal Community junior Megan Turek posted a 982 while BHS senior Megan Varney came in at 946. Yorkville's Katie Orisek won the individual title at 1,415, including a 300 in her final game.
Lincoln-Way West won the 12-team event with a score of 6,016. Streator, with a sophomore and four freshmen, placed 12th at 4,628. Freshman Hallie Ligori led the Bulldogs with a 970.
