Bryce Barnes scored 20 points as Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley downed Class 1A No. 5-ranked Ridgeview, 48-32, in a Heart of Illinois Conference basketball showdown Friday night at Colfax.

Ryland Holt added 11 points for the Falcons, who improved to 21-3 overall and 9-1 in the HOIC. GCMS and Ridgeview (20-4, 7-3) had split two previous games, with the Falcons winning in the Monticello Holiday Tournament championship game and the Mustangs earning the victory in the McLean County Tournament title contest.

Justin Myers paced the Mustangs with 20 points.

The game was tied at 18-all in the second quarter before GCMS took a 27-20 halftime lead. The Falcons never trailed in the second half.

GCMS shot 48 percent from the field while holding Ridgeview to 23 percent.

"Unfortunately it was one of those nights. Defensively they did a great job," said Ridgeview coach Rodney Kellar. "We got some looks, but unfortunately we could not get a big shot to go. In the second half, they pretty much controlled us at the defensive end."

Deer Creek-Mackinaw 64, Fieldcrest 47: Dawson Jones scored 24 points to spark visiting Deer Creek-Mackinaw (19-5, 7-2) to victory over Fieldcrest (13-10, 4-6). Neal Scheuermann added 14 points for the Chiefs, who led 32-18 at halftime.

Cam Grandy led Fieldcrest with 14 points while Derek May added 12.

LeRoy 56, Flanagan-Cornell 37: Nick Perry's 28 points powered visiting LeRoy (15-7, 7-4) to victory over Flanagan-Cornell (10-13, 3-8). Perry sank 14 of 16 free throw attempts.

Nate Sammer added 12 points for the Panthers, who led led by 19 at the half. Jeremy Durdan paced the Falcons with 15 points. Tyler Harms added 10.

Tremont 47, El Paso-Gridley 38: Titus Thompson led the host Turks with 11 points in their Heart of Illinois Conference win. Tremont (17-7, 9-3) overcame an 11-5 first quarter deficit to take a 21-15 halftime lead. Aaron Steiner of EPG (12-10, 5-5) matched Thompson for game-high honors with 11 points.

Heyworth 71, Lexington 41: Tate Eller scored 27 points and Jeremy Witten 21 for Heyworth in a win at Lexington (6-17, 0-10).

The Minutemen, who trailed 40-19 at halftime, received 10 points from Ray McLeese.

Eureka 65, Fisher 53: Keegan Zimmerman scored 12 of his game-high 31 points in the fourth quarter to help the Hornets pull away to a Heart of Illinois Conference win at Eureka (11-9, 6-3). Eureka held a 47-44 lead going into the final frame. Alex Brittain added 14 points for the victors.

Ryan Meents connected on four 3-pointers and led Fisher (12-12, 2-8) with 25 points.

Tri-Valley 73, Blue Ridge 30: Tri-Valley took a 23-9 first-quarter lead and cruised to an HOIC win at Farmer City. Clayton Leipold's 19 points led the Vikings and John Symanski contributed 14. Zach Stephens had eight points for Blue Ridge.

Olympia 60, Rantoul 51: Trey Wilson had 17 points and 12 rebounds to power Olympia to the Illini Prairie win at Rantoul. Blake Stine added 14 points for the Spartans, who led 34-21 at the half.

Unity 47, Prairie Central 41: Tolono Unity pulled away in the fourth quarter to down Prairie Central in an Illini Prairie Conference game at Fairbury.

Noah Lewallen and Peyton Rigsby paced the Hawks, who trailed 30-28 after three quarters, with 12 points each.

St. Joseph-Ogden 69, Pontiac 66: The Spartans held off the Indians for an Illini Prairie Conference win at Pontiac.

Lincoln 61, Mattoon 31: Titus Cannon and Jermaine Hamlin scored 14 and 11 points, respectively, for host Lincoln (17-5, 8-1). Drew Bacon added four assists for the Railsplitters, who led at intermission, 36-18.

Jacob Spitz paced Mattoon with 11 points.

Clinton 74, Tuscola 24: Austin Baker and Austin Rauch scored 18 points apiece as Clinton (12-8) topped Tuscola (6-15) in the Central Illinois Conference Tournament third-place game at Tuscola.

Cal Case added 11 points for the Maroons, who led 21-2 after one quarter and 43-8 after two. Clinton sank 13 3-pointers as Case and Rauch had three each. The Maroons played without starter Dalton Smith (ankle) and lost Seth Westfall to an ankle injury in the second period.

Roanoke-Benson 57, Lowpoint-Washburn 16: Jake Weber netted 16 points and Nate Woodward grabbed 11 rebounds in the Rockets' victory at Roanoke. Logan Gastman added eight rebounds for Roanoke (14-8).

Mount Pulaski 52, Springfield Lutheran 26: Seth Huff scored 14 points, Peyton Taylor 12 and Gezus Oliver 11 for Mount Pulaski (18-5) during a home victory.

South Newton 41, Dwight 20: Cal Schultz scored five points for Dwight, which fell in the Sangamon Valley Conference Tournament at Watseka. Jay Hammel scored 16 points for South Newton, which led at halftime, 16-12.

The Trojans return to action at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the seventh-place game.

DePue 50, Woodland 27: Collin Hjerpe scored 12 points for Woodland in a loss to visiting DePue.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Teutopolis 56, Central Catholic 39: Falling behind, 14-2, after one quarter doomed Central Catholic (20-5) during a loss to Teutopolis (23-6) at Champaign. The Saints came in ranked No. 8 in Class 3A while Teutopolis is ranked No. 9 in 2A.

Three players scored for the Saints, who received 18 points, seven rebounds and five steals from Lauren Shanks. Bailey Coffman chipped in 15 points and two assists for the Saints, who pulled within nine in the second half.

Sadie Bueker led the Wooden Shoes with 15 points while Macy Michels added 14.

Calvary 31, Cornerstone 24: Jacy Wingate scored eight points to lead host Calvary Christian (12-10, 6-4) to victory over Cornerstone.

Haley Lehman led the Cyclones with 13 points.
