Jordan Perry's heroic 3-point shooting saved Lincoln High School from a stinging Central State Eight conference loss Friday in Springfield.
Perry drained his eighth basket from long range with 2.8 seconds remaining, give the Railsplitters a thrilling 53-52 victory over the host Senators.
The Railsplitters (18-4, 9-3), ranked No. 10 in Class 3A, led 40-34 after three quarters. But Isaac Nelson hit a step-back 3 and completed a four-point play with 18.9 seconds on the clock, putting the Senators in front 52-50.
Perry scored all of his 24 points from beyond the arc on 14 attempts. Gavin Block added eight points and 12 rebounds while Aaron Hopp scored all of his eight in the third quarter.
Nelson finished with 23 for Springfield (9-11, 5-6), with Tavion Kincaid contributing 11 and Obediah Church 10.
Pontiac 70, Olympia 58: Pontiac pulled away in the third quarter to defeat Olympia at Pontiac. Carter Jacobs scored 16 points for the Indians (9-9, 6-3) with Austin Long adding 15 and Drew Mills 14. In the loss, Ashton Beachy led the Spartans (12-11, 4-6) with 13 points.
Prairie Central 47, IVC 41: Blaine Lewallen was 3-of-4 from 3-point range and led Prairie Central with 16 points in a Corn Belt Conference win at Chillicothe. The Hawks shot 55 percent from the floor, but saw a 23-14 halftime lead nearly disappear in the third quarter. They rebounded to outscore the Grey Ghosts 16-11 in the fourth to claim the win.
PBL 69, Iroquois West 33: Jonny Walder had 14 points through three quarters and 14 differend Panthers scored as they rolled to a Sangamon Valley Conference win over the Raiders.
Corban Riecks, Jeremy Walder and Parker Young had eight apiece for PBL (11-8), as did Jose Lopez to lead Iroquos West (6-14).
Watseka 53, Cissna Park 50: Despite Matt Birr's 16 points, Cissna Park fell to Watseka at Watseka.
Riverton 43, Mount Pulaski 39: Matt Amidon scored 10 points with Beau Collier adding eight but it wasn't enough as host Mount Pulaski was tipped by Riverton.
Delavan 62, Athens 46: Andy Long nailed six 3-pointers and scored a game-high 24 points as host Delavan cruised past Athens. Karson Arrenholz added 17 for the Panthers.
Gardner 59, Dwight 49: Justin Fox and Caleb Boma each scored 12 points for Dwight, ranked fourth in Class 1A, in a nonconference loss at Gardner. Boma hit three 3 pointers for the Trojans.
Streator 98, Reed-Custer 90: Top-seeded Streator upended Reed-Custer in a shootout to win the Interstate Eight Conference Tournament at Coal City. No other information was reported.
U High's Meyer receives honor: The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) has named University High's Michelle Meyer as the Illinois Boys Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year.
The honor was based upon the 2013-14 school year, in which U High became the only school south of Interstate 80 to win an IHSA swimming & diving state title (boys or girls) since the single-class championships began in 1932.
