Senior forward Ryland Holt of Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley High School was a second-team selection on the Associated Press Class 2A All-State basketball team released Thursday.
The 6-foot-5 Holt, a Minnesota State recruit, received 43 points in voting by a statewide media panel. Holt and the third-ranked Falcons play at 7:15 p.m. Friday against top-ranked Nashville in the Class 2A State Tournament semifinals at Peoria.
Holt's teammate, senior Bryce Barnes, received honorable mention, as did Central Catholic senior guard Luke Yoder, Eureka senior forward Keegan Zimmerman, Deer Creek-Mackinaw senior guard Levi Scheuermann, El Paso-Gridley junior forward Jack Weber and Central Catholic senior forward Tommy Nelson.
The 2A first team included junior Devon House of Sterling Newman and seniors Fred Cleveland Jr. of Chicago Leo, Malcolm Miller of Shelbyville, DaChaun Anderson of Chicago Leo and Markese Jacobs of Chicago Uplift.
In Class 1A, Flanagan-Cornell senior Jeremy Durdan was an honorable mention selection, missing second-team honors by two points. LeRoy senior Nick Perry also received honorable mention.
Making up the Class 1A first team were junior Connor Heaton of Central A&M, Cissna Park senior Christian Stadeli, Providence St. Mel senior Tyriel Nelson, Kewanee Wethersfield sophomore Coltin Quagliano and Madison senior Emmitt Gordon III.
