BLOOMINGTON -- Galesburg High School’s girls basketball team bettered its own state record for 3-pointers in a game Saturday by making 22 in an 88-47 nonconference victory over Bloomington at the Robert Frank Sports Complex.
Galesburg set the previous girls state record of 21 in December and matched it on Jan. 13 against Quincy. The Silver Streaks (22-5) were led by Jessica Howard, who hit seven 3s en route to 23 points.
The No. 7-ranked team in Class 3A was 22 of 68 from 3-point range, falling three attempts shy of the state record, and went 5 of 9 from inside the arc.
BHS (9-13) was led by Mary Lawrence’s 12 points and 10 rebounds.
