Audra Dial scored 16 points as the LeRoy High School girls basketball team emerged from a wild fourth quarter with a 48-42 victory over Blue Ridge on Wednesday in a semifinal of the LeRoy Class 1A Regional.
LeRoy led 28-25 after three quarters before the teams combined for 37 fourth-quarter points.
Courtney Monier added 10 points for the Panthers. Alex Specht paced Blue Ridge with 12 points, Jamison Brandt had 11 and Gabby Pearl 10.
El Paso-Gridley 58, Eureka 45: After trailing by two at the first quarter break, No. 8 state-ranked EPG rallied to a 33-21 halftime lead en route to the win in the semifinals of the Class 2A regional at Eureka.
Senior forward Anna Gauger scored 23 points to lead the Titans (21-3) into Thursday night’s championship game against HOIC rival Tremont. Rebekah Ehresman added 16 points for EPG.
Serena Meiss scored 14 points for Eureka (9-17).
Tremont 52, Fieldcrest 44: Wesley Woodard sparked a balanced Tremont attack with 12 points. Lauren Hartman registered 10 points and Haley Miller nine as the Turks improved to 23-3.
Haley Ruestman and Tessa Holland scored 15 points each to lead Fieldcrest.
Roanoke-Benson 51, Flanagan-Cornell-Woodland 39: The Rockets will face top-seeded Putnam County in the Class 1A regional at Granville after the semifinal win over FCW. Sophomore center Olivia Rossman led Roanoke-Benson to the victory with 15 points. Kaitlyn Gastman added 13 for the Rockets.
Jessica Schneider paced FCW with 15 points.
Putnam County defeated Midland, 68-21, in Wednesday’s first game.
Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 33, Beecher 30: GCMS, which entered the Class 2A Paxton-Buckley-Loda regional as the sixth-seed, finds itself in the championship game with Wednesday night’s win at Paxton.
Mikayla Baillie scored 12 points to lead the Falcons into Thursday’s title game against Watseka, a 52-27 victor over Momence in Wednesday’s opening semifinal.
Emily Elder added nine points for GCMS.
Boys regular season
PBL 52, Watseka 40: Tyler Rubarts led the way with 14 points and Jay Eshleman and Weston Weber chipped in 12 each at PBL claimed a home victory over Watseka.
Girls regular season
Normal West 54, Champaign Central 52: Tia Robertson scored 18 points as West captured a hard fought Big 12 win at Champaign.
“We just kept battling,” said West coach Angie Codron. “It wasn’t pretty, but we just kept working at it and got the job done.”
Carolyn Peters added 11 points for the Wildcats (16-7, 13-2) who led 21-19 at the half and still held a two-point advantage heading into the final period.
