Madi Hock scored 17 points Monday night, including 5 of 6 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, to lead Fieldcrest High School's girls basketball team to a 50-43 victory over Serena in the opening round of the Stone Seed Classic at Flanagan.
Addie Goodrich added 15 points and six rebounds for the Knights, who had a 20-point fourth quarter while overcoming 24 turnovers. Alyx Carls had seven points and a team-high four assists.
Ottawa Marquette 44, Flanagan-Cornell 39: Ottawa Marquette overcame an eight-point deficit after three quarters to post the win in the Stone Seed Classic at Flanagan. Flanagan-Cornell was paced by 18 points from Jadyn Mitchell and 11 from McKenna Roth. The Falcons were held to three points and no field goals in the fourth quarter.
Prairie Central Tournament
Eureka 57, Mahomet 50: Junior Natalie Anderson had 21 points and made four 3-pointers in Eureka's victory in the Prairie Central Tournament at Fairbury. Senior Courtney Heffren added 19 points for the Hornets, scoring 13 in the fourth quarter.
East Peoria 34, Prairie Central 32: Emma Kinkade, Natalie Graf and Elly Haberkorn each scored seven points for the Hawks in the loss at Fairbury. East Peoria outscored the Hawks 9-3 in the fourth quarter to pull out the win.
Falcon-Bunnie Tip-Off Classic
GCMS 59, Iroquois West 29: Hannah Hathaway had 17 points to pace GCMS to the win in the Falcon/Bunnie Tip-Off Classic at Gibson City. Claire Retherford and Emily Clinton added 10 points each for the Falcons, who led 31-17 at the half. Shelby Johnson's 12 points led Iroquois West.
Tolono Unity 53, Fisher 32: Tolono Unity outscored Fisher 16-2 in the first quarter en route to the victory in the Falcon/Bunnie Tip-Off Classic win at Fisher. Sidney Hood sank four 3-pointers and led Fisher with 19 points.
Clinton Turkey Tussle
PORTA 49, Mount Pulaski 39: Skylar Hayes scored 20 points to become Mount Pulaski's career scoring leader, but the Hilltoppers lost in opening night pool play at Riverton in the 5th annual Clinton Turkey Tussle. Hayes has 1,694 career points, surpassing the previous standard of 1,687 by Jessica Awe in 2013. Morgan May had 12 rebounds for the Hilltoppers.
Clinton 43, Dee-Mack 32: Maddie Stevens scored 21 points to lead Clinton. The Maroons also received 12 points from Mallory Cyrulik. Dee-Mack was paced by Jess Carithers, Hope McGinnes and Emma Miller with six points each.
Heyworth 35, Blue Ridge 27: The Hornets received nine points from Shae Ruppert in capturing a nonconference season opener at Farmer City. Sophomore guard Jenna Mozingo led Blue Ridge with eight points.
Dwight 48, Beecher 39: Dwight's Mel Stewart opened the season with 21 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Trojans to a nonconference win at Beecher. Kayla Kodat added 15 points and seven boards for the victors.
