In a showdown between Heart of Illinois Conference basketball leaders, GCMS High School (17-2, 7-0), ranked No. 6 in Class 2A, received 14 points from Connor Birky and 10 from Bryce Barnes in a 41-37 win over Deer Creek-Mackinaw (17-4, 6-1) at Gibson City on Friday.
Levi Scheuermann scored 15 points and John Blumeyer 13 for the Chiefs, who faced a 28-23 deficit entering the fourth quarter.
GCMS outscored its guest at the free throw line, 11-3.
Tremont 62, Flanagan-Cornell 45: Ryan Wagenbach scored 17 points and led four players in double figures in the Turks' Heart of Illinois Conference win at Flanagan. Titus Thompson added 14 points while Silas Israel and Landon Pflederer contributed 10 each. Jeremy Durdan's 16 points paced Flanagan-Cornell.
Fieldcrest 43, Ridgeview 37: Hayden Carls and Jaxon Cusac-McKay scored 13 points apiece for Fieldcrest (15-5, 5-2) in a win over Ridgeview (11-9, 4-5) at Colfax. Derek May added 10 points for the Knights, who built a 28-16 halftime lead.
Ryan Parker led Ridgeview with 17 points.
Fisher 77, Heyworth 74, OT: Carson Brozenec led the Bunnies with 21 points in their Heart of Illinois Conference win at Fisher. Will Delaney added 16 points and nine assists for Fisher (7-12, 1-6). Colin McCubbins led Heyworth (7-13, 0-9) with 20 points. Tazden Eller and Alex Cilento added 19 and 18, respectively.
Pontiac 63, Champaign St. Thomas More 54: Joe Murphy scored 17 points to spark Pontiac (9-9, 1-0) to an Illini Prairie Conference victory at Champaign. Ryan Weir added 12 points for the Indians while Carter Dawson and Mike Davis had 11 apiece.
St. Thomas More (11-9, 0-2) received 18 points apiece from Riley Morris and Bobby Kapolnek.
Lincoln 55, Morton 34: Kaeden Froebe was 10-of-13 from the free throw line and scored 20 points to go with seven rebounds while leading host Lincoln to victory. Will Ewald added 12 points for the Class 3A, No. 7 state-ranked Railersplitters (14-2). Barik Olden scored 23 points for the Potters (15-5).
Clinton 47, Sullivan 42: Matthew Overton's 17 points led Clinton (8-12, 2-2) to a Central Illinois Conference victory over visiting Sullivan (3-16, 0-4).
Caden Ellis scored 23 points for Sullivan, which trailed 40-31 entering the fourth quarter.
Cissna Park 70, Dwight 26: Cissna Park (17-1), ranked No. 2 in Class 1A, overwhelmed visiting Dwight with help from Christian Stadeli's 16 poitns. Bailey Sluis and Ian Rogers added 14 apiece for the victors.
Dakota Wahl scored 11 points for Dwight (6-15), which trailed 26-4 after one quarter.
Monticello 61, Prairie Central 55: Prairie Central (9-10, 1-1) placed four players in double figures during a loss at Monticello (15-3, 1-0). Kaden King had 13 points, Jake Bachtold 11, Jake Crane 11 and Trey Bazzell 10 for the Hawks. Bachtold also grabbed nine rebounds.
Monticello, which led 28-23 at halftime, received 14 points and eight assists from Devin Graham. Benton Singleton added 13 points and 10 rebounds while Ethan Johns chipped in 12 points.
DePue 53, Roanoke-Benson 50: Jordan Huschen scored 14 points and Luke Braman 11 for Roanoke-Benson (13-6) in a home loss. With eight seconds left, the Rockets missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer.
Henry 44, Woodland 37: Nate Carby scored nine points for Woodland (7-14, 3-3) in a loss at South Streator.
Delavan 55, Mount Pulaski 34: Grant Davis scored 17 points for the Hilltoppers in their loss at Delavan.
