All-tournament selection Bett O'Neal scored 16 points to lead Bloomington High School's girls basketball team past Vandalia, 45-39, Monday in the Effingham Shootout at Effingham.

Bree O'Neal added 15 points and six steals, while Kamaria Gant, who also made the all-tournament team, scored 10 points.

The Purple Raiders (9-17) suffered a 53-36 loss to Pana later in the day. Bett O'Neal had 12 points and Gant nine.

Central Catholic 66, Prairie Central 39: Lauren Shanks and Bailey Coffman scored 18 points each in the Saints' Illini Prairie Conference home win. Coffman also had six assists and Shanks five steals.

Ivie Juarez had five rebounds for the Class 3A No. 4-ranked Saints (20-3, 8-0). Kate Winterland's 11 points led Prairie Central.

Pontiac 60, IVC 18: The Indians received 17 points from Addison Masching in an Illini Prairie Conference win at Chillicothe. Pontiac raced to a 16-3 first quarter lead.

Tuscola 43, Clinton 38: Mallory Cyrulik scored 12 points and Maddie Stevens added 10 for Clinton in its Central Illinois Conference Tournament quarterfinal loss at Decatur.

Pleasant Plains 44, Olympia 20: Colby Burt scored eight points for the Spartans in a nonconference loss at Stanford.

Mount Pulaski 48, Athens 46: Skylar Hayes netted 31 points and tied the all-time school scoring record as the Hilltoppers won at Athens. Hayes' 2,212 career points ties the Mount Pulaski standard set by Jeff Clements in 1978.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Blue Ridge 52, Sangamon Valley 39: Nick Burrow poured in 21 points as Blue Ridge advanced to the semifinals of the Little Okaw Valley Conference Tournament at Arcola. Zach Stephens added 11 for the Knights (11-10).

Peoria Christian 53, Woodland 37: Kyle Voytko had 13 points and five steals for the Warriors (7-14) in their Tri-County Conference Tournament loss at Granville. Collin Hjerpe had nine rebounds.

DANCE

NCHS nets 3A state berth: Normal Community's competitive dance team qualified for the Class 3A state finals for the first time Saturday by placing fourth in the Normal West Sectional.

NCHS had an 87.97 total. The top six placers in each class advanced to the state finals, which are Friday and Saturday at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington. NCHS previously advanced to state in Class 2A, but had never reached the 3A state finals.

Also advancing from the Normal West Sectional were Normal West in 2A (fifth place, 81.30), Eureka in Class 1A (second, 81.90) and Fieldcrest in 1A (fourth, 80.43). Earning a state berth at the Mascoutah Sectional was Clinton in 1A (sixth, 85.10).
