GIBSON CITY — The annual WGCY Radio all-star basketball games will be March 23 at Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley High School.

The games pit senior stars from the Heart of Illinois Conference against those from the Sangamon Valley Conference. Players are selected by a group of coaches from the respective conferences.

The girls game begins at 5:30 p.m. with the boys game to follow. There will be a dunk contest between games.

At the conclusion of the girls game, the Cissna Park and GCMS boys teams will be recognized for their state tournament runs. Cissna Park finished second in Class 1A and GCMS took third place in Class 2A.

Head coaches for the girls game will be Jerry Prina of Eureka (HOIC) and Barry Bauer of Watseka (SVC). The boys teams will be led by Ryan Tompkins of GCMS and Kevin Long of Cissna Park.

Tompkins will have three of his GCMS players on the all-star team in guard Connor Birky and forwards Ryland Holt and Bryce Barnes. Cissna Park's Long has three of his players as well in Bailey Sluis, Christian Stadeli and Julian Stadeli.
