Class 1A

Elmwood Sectional

When: Saturday at Maple Lane Country Club — Girls, 10:30 a.m.; Boys, 11:15 a.m.

Area boys teams: Deer Creek-Mackinaw, El Paso-Gridley, Eureka, Tremont, Tri-Valley, Central Catholic.

Area boys individuals: Kyle Rader, Olympia; Devon Butler, Heyworth.

Area girls teams: Eureka, Olympia, El Paso-Gridley, Deer Creek-Mackinaw, Central Catholic, Heyworth.

Area girls individuals: Katie Springer, Delavan; Tressa Scheuermann, Tremont; Sahah Leitner, Tremont; Abigail Johnson, Tri-Valley.

FYI: Based on state rankings, the expected boys qualifiers here are No. 3 Elmwood, No. 9 Athens, No. 12 Deer Creek-Mackinaw, No. 13 Carthage Illini West and No. 15 Eureka. Long shots looking for an upset include No. 16 Tremont, No. 17 El Paso-Gridley and No. 20 Aledo. Ranked girls entrants are No. 2 Liberty, No. 5 Williamsville, No. 6 Eureka, No. 8 Olympia, No. 24 Springfield Lutheran and No. 25 El Paso-Gridley. Top area individuals include defending champion Shelby Siltman of Olympia for the girls and Central Catholic's Adam Schlenker for the boys.

Effingham St. Anthony Sectional

When: Saturday at Mid-American Motorworks, Effingham — girls, 10 a.m.; boys, 11 a.m.

Area boys teams: PBL, Clinton.

Area girls teams: PBL, Clinton.

FYI: The No. 24 PBL boys are the lowest ranked of eight ranked teams here. The five favored to advance are No. 6. St. Joseph-Ogden, No. 7 Robinson, No. 8 Carlinville, No. 10 Shelbyville and No. 14 St. Thomas More. The girls field also has eight ranked teams including No. 1 St. Joseph-Ogden, No. 3 Tolono Unity, No. 4 Monticello, No. 9 Litchfield and No. 15 St. Thomas More. Individually, three-time defending state champion Anna Sophia Keller of St. Anthony is the heavy favorite.

Lisle Sectional

When: Saturday at Lisle Community Park — girls, 10 a.m.; boys, 11 a.m.

Area boys teams: Prairie Central, Pontiac.

Area boys individuals: Dan Muller, Gardner-Dwight.

Area girls teams: Prairie Central.

Area girls individuals: Daly Galloway, Gardner-Dwight; Sarah Christopher, Pontiac; Alison Flessner, Tri-Point. 

FYI: Northern Illinois recruit Daly Galloway of Gardner-Dwight will try to win her third straight sectional title since placing second in 2013. Ranked girls teams here include No. 11 Christian, No. 17 Herscher and No. 20 Westmont. The only ranked boys teams are No. 23 Clifton Central and No. 25 Niles Northridge Prep. 

Oregon Sectional

When: Saturday at Oregon Park West — girls, 10 a.m.; boys, 11 a.m.

Area boys team: Fieldcrest.

Area girls team: Fieldcrest.

FYI: Fieldcrest's teams are not expected to advance from this sectional, which includes seven ranked girls teams and six ranked boys squads. The favorites are the No. 2 Elgin Harvest boys and the No. 10 Richmond-Burton girls.

Class 2A

Metamora Sectional

When: Saturday at Black Partridge Park — girls, 10 a.m.; boys, 11 a.m.

Area boys teams: Mahomet-Seymour, University High, Bloomington, Streator.

Area boys individuals: Blake Jones, Lincoln.

Area girls teams: University High, Mahomet-Seymour, Streator.

Area girls individuals: Brooke Misukonis, BHS; Kirsten Nafziger, BHS; Millicent Clay, BHS; Morgan Bogdanic, Lincoln; Ashlyn Boyer, Lincoln.

FYI: The boys' field is loaded with No. 1 Mahomet-Seymour, No. 2 U High, No. 8 Metamora, No. 15 Peoria Notre Dame, No. 18 LaSalle-Peru and No. 19 Dunlap. Two-time defending sectional champion Mahomet-Seymour is ranked 15th nationally. Individually, U High's Jack Franklin is the reigning sectional champion. For the girls, No. 14 U High is on the advancement bubble behind No. 2 Dunlap, No. 7 Metamora, No. 8 Washington, No. 11 Mahomet-Seymour and No. 13 Peoria Notre Dame. Dunlap junior Franny Verville is the top returnee from last year's sectional.

Class 3A

Edwardsville Sectional

When: Saturday at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville — girls, 1 p.m.; boys, 2 p.m.

Area boys team: Normal West.

Area boys individual: Jacob Myers, Normal Community.

Area girls teams: Normal West, NCHS.

FYI: Normal West coach Chad Aubin feels both of his teams have a shot at qualifying. The Wildcat girls are led by sophomore Mara Smith, whose best 3-mile time of 18:08 ranks third in school history. West's boys hope to see leader Tyler Dunn return from an injury that kept him out of the regional. Jacob Myers of NCHS is making his second straight sectional appearance. After placing sixth in the regional, the NCHS girls will be long shots to move on.
