Colton Clesson grabbed touchdown passes of 4, 11 and 8 yards Friday night to help Pontiac High School's football team to a 36-30 Illini Prairie Conference win over Prairie Central in a battle of unbeatens at Fairbury.
Clesson had eight catches for 115 yards for the Indians (4-0, 4-0) with quarterback Ben Schuler completing 9-of-15 passes for 123 yards. Austin Norman rushed for 105 yards on 22 carries.
Prairie Central's Wyatt Steidinger scored on a 1-yard TD run and also was on the receiving end of touchdown passes of 23 and 59 yards from quarterback Collier Palmore. Matt Kerns rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown for the Hawks (3-1, 3-1).
Prairie Central held a 22-21 lead going into the fourth quarter. Pontiac's Gavin Bauknecht scored on a 14-yard run with 4:54 remaining in the game to lift the Indians to the win.
GCMS 48, Fieldcrest 6: Jared Trantina gained 120 yards on just 11 carries while rushing for two touchdowns in the Falcons' HOIC Large Division victory at Gibson City. Nathan Garard was 4-of-6 passing for 118 yards and a TD.'
The Falcons (4-0, 2-0) held Fieldcrest to negative-22 yards rushing. Josh Bleich had 11 tackles and three sacks.
Fieldcrest (1-3, 0-2) scored on a 12-yard pass from Matt Lorton to Jaxon Cusak-McKay.
Tri-Valley 42, EPG 6: Hunter Gawlik rushed for 169 yards and Cole Maxedon had 127 yards and three touchdowns in Tri-Valley's homecoming victory over El Paso-Gridley at Downs.
Maxedon scored on runs of 65, 10 and 13 yards as Tri-Valley improved to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in the HOIC Large Division. Gawlik had a 55-yard TD run.
The Vikings' defense held EPG (2-2, 1-1) to 154 total yards. Area rushing leader Ryne Faulk was limited to 62 yards on 24 carries.
Eureka 19, Dee-Mack 18: Matt Martin scored on a 6-yard run with 1:51 remaining to lift Eureka to the HOIC Large Division win at Mackinaw. Martin rushed for 101 yards on 27 carries for the Hornets (3-1, 1-1), while Hunter Gladson added 79 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.
Levi Scheuermann scored on a 25-yard pass from Zack Horve and on a 20-yard run for Dee-Mack (2-2, 0-2). Aden Sears caught a 62-yard TD pass from Martin for Eureka.
Fisher 58, Flanagan-Cornell-Woodland 0: The Bunnies raced to a 50-0 halftime lead in a Heart of Illinois Conference Small Division game at Flanagan. Tyler Wilson rushed for 214 yards and scored on touchdown runs of 5, 23, 66 and 25 yards for Fisher, which piled up 431 yards of offense.
Milledgeville 61, Blue Ridge 0: Brady Masengale completed 5-of-10 passes for 50 yards for the Knights in their loss at Farmer City.
Clinton 35, Meridian 0: Tyrese Petty rushed for 110 yards and four touchdowns as Clinton remained unbeaten with the Central Illinois Conference win at Macon.
Kolby Winter added 75 yards and a score on 12 carries for the Maroons (4-0, 2-0).
Ridgeview 21, Heyworth 7: Josh Hardman rushed for 105 yards on 23 carries and scored on a 3-yard run to lead Ridgeview-Lexington to a Heart of Illinois Conference win at Colfax. Ryan Benton added a 32-yard scoring run for the hosts, who also received a 26-yard TD run by Tate Walcott.
Heyworth pulled to within the final margin on a 26-yard touchdown pass from Andrew Sims to Ryan Graves in the fourth quarter. Sims also led the Hornets rushing attack with 85 yards.
LeRoy 28, Tremont 22, 4 OT: LeRoy outlasted Tremont in a four-overtime thriller at Tremont. The game was tied at 8-8 at the end of regulation.
Jakob Sexton ran for 57 yards and two touchdowns for the Panthers (2-2, 2-0) in the HOIC Small Division game, including the winning TD in the fourth overtime. Caiden Buster ran for 56 yards and two TDs for the host Turks (1-3, 0-2).
Coal City 15, Streator 0: Host Streator (1-3) lost for the second week in a row in conference play and fell to 1-3 for the season. Trever Murphy gained 33 yards on 11 carries for the Bulldogs.
Clifton Central 46, Dwight 23: Clifton Central took control with a 24-point second quarter in the Sangamon Valley Conference game at Dwight.
Dwight (1-3, 0-2) led 15-8 midway through the second quarter on two Logan Graham touchdown runs, but Clifton (2-2, 1-0) rebounded with two TDs and led 24-15 at the half.
Effingham 36, Lincoln 0: Effiingham held Lincoln to 68 total yards while blanking the Railers in Apollo Conference action at Lincoln. The Railers (1-3, 0-3) had 72 yards passing from Noah Funk but minus-4 yards rushing as a team.
