Intercity

Champaign Central vs. Bloomington

Time: 7 p.m. Friday

Place: Bloomington

Records: Champaign Central 2-2, 2-2 in Big 12; Bloomington 1-3, 1-3

FYI: BHS enters its homecoming game looking to snap a three-game losing streak … The Purple Raiders fell 34-14 last week at Urbana, their first loss to the Tigers since 1995 … BHS’ Jayden Thompson has thrown for 372 yards and five touchdowns, with three going to Jonathon Wimp … Champaign Central’s Brad Wright has run for 578 yards and 10.5 per carry.

Normal Community vs. Champaign Centennial

Time: 7 p.m. Friday

Place: Champaign

Records: Normal Community 4-0, 4-0 in Big 12; Champaign Centennial 1-3, 1-3

FYI: Normal Community, ranked No. 8 in Class 7A, has been triggered on offense by senior QB Nick Birlingmair, who has passed for 432 yards, run for 278 and accounted for eight touchdowns … Jowonis Edwards has added 238 yards rushing and a 10.3 average per carry … Champaign Centennial lost 28-20 to state-ranked Danville last week … The Ironmen will be without DL Tyler Bixby (hand) for the second straight game.

Central Catholic vs. Pontiac

Time: 7 p.m. Friday

Place: Pontiac

Records: Central Catholic 3-1, 2-1 in Corn Belt; Pontiac 3-1, 2-1

FYI: Both teams are without key players because of injuries … Pontiac senior QB/DB Peter Martin suffered a broken leg in last week’s 50-7 loss at state-ranked Mahomet-Seymour … Central RB/LB Shane Powe (332 yards rushing, 5 TDs) is out two to three weeks with a knee injury … The winner stays within striking distance of Corn Belt co-leaders Mahomet-Seymour and University High (both 3-0 in the league).

University High vs. Eureka

Time: 7 p.m. Friday

Place: Eureka

Records: University High 3-1, 3-0 in Corn Belt; Eureka 1-3, 1-2

FYI: U High seeks its first four-game win streak since 1997, when the Pioneers won six in a row … U High senior quarterback Kyle Morris has thrown five of his seven touchdown passes to sophomore Joe Johnson … Johnson had 162 yards rushing and 86 receiving in last week’s 58-22 win over Prairie Central … Carter Vance leads Eureka with 507 yards rushing.

FYI: FCW moved up a spot to No. 7 in the Class 1A state poll after a 26-13 victory over Tri-Valley … Mike Alberty and Nate Roemer each ran for two touchdowns as the Falcons remained tied with Dee-Mack for the HOIC lead … Fisher edged Ridgeview 21-20 behind Carson Perrero’s 126 yards rushing.
