FYI: Normal West, which is ranked No. 6 in Class 6A, will be trying to extend its regular-season winning streak to 17 in its homecoming game … Senior QB Alex Jefferson has thrown for 569 yards and seven TDs and run for 437 and six scores … DL Tony Hofmann will not play for the Wildcats for team discipline reasons …. Danville won its first game last week by defeating Champaign Centennial, 32-23, as quarterback Trent Sherfield accounted for 337 yards (173 rushing, 164 passing).

FYI: NCHS is trying to break a two-game losing streak. This is the Hawks’ homecoming game … U High sophomore QB Arion Worthman has thrown for 443 yards and five TDs while running for 238 yards and five scores … Prairie Central rallied from a 6-0 halftime deficit to beat Central Catholic, 28-17, last week as Kyle Moody rushed for 116 yards and two TDs.

BHS vs. Champaign Central

FYI: BHS won its first two games on touchdowns in the final minute before losing its home opener last week to Urbana, 30-22 … Emerson Evans is coming off his best game of the season for the Purple Raiders as he rushed for 108 yards on 12 carries … BHS will be without junior lineman Rayvon Shorter because of a shoulder injury … Champaign Central has been outscored, 96-21. Decatur Eisenhower snapped a 22-game losing streak by beating the Maroons, 18-7, last week.

Central Catholic vs. Eureka

Records: Central Catholic 0-3, 0-2 in Corn Belt Conference; Eureka 1-2, 1-1

FYI: Central Catholic is off to its first 0-3 start since 1975. The Saints’ first three opponents are a combined 8-1 … Tony Rettick (25 of 38, 324 yards, 3 TDs) will start at quarterback for the Saints this week after coming in relief the first three games … Central linebacker/running back Marcus DeCicco suffered a broken bone in his foot last week and will miss at least three games. Kellen Kiley will switch from cornerback to linebacker, while Brady Diemer returns at cornerback from a concussion … Eureka beat Rantoul, 32-6, in its Corn Belt opener two weeks ago as Carter Vance ran for 238 yards and three TDs … This is the third and final home game for the Hornets at Eureka College. McCollum Field is undergoing a construction project and will be ready Sept. 28 against Prairie Central.

FYI: Tri-Valley enters the game ranked No. 8 in Class 2A. The Vikings and Tremont are among five teams without a loss in Heart of Illinois Conference play … Tri-Valley has outscored its first three opponents, 144-13, behind the running of Blake Cowden (367 yards, 3 TDs) and Braden Herrman (329 yards, 6 TDs) … Tremont has allowed only six points. The Turks have shut out their last two opponents, including a 24-0 victory over rival Deer Creek-Mackinaw last week.
