JACKSONVILLE — Jacksonville High School's football team built a 21-10 halftime lead and went on to defeat University High, 36-12, Friday night in a Central State Eight Conference game.
U High (0-4, 0-4) led 7-0 early on a Dawson Brooks 10-yard run, but Jacksonville tied it by returning an interception for a touchdown.
The Crimsons (2-2, 2-2) went up 14-7 on a 5-yard run by Chris Pulley before a Nathan Clay field goal pulled U High within 14-10. Jacksonville stretched the lead to 21-10 at the half on a 4-yard TD run by Tyger Vaniter.
The home team scored two second-half touchdowns while celebrating homecoming with a win. U High was held to a safety after intermission.
