BLOOMINGTON — Four schools will represent the Pantagraph area in the Illinois High School Association Competitive Cheerleading State Finals this weekend at Grossinger Motors Arena.

The small team division will include University High School, Dwight and Eureka, while Normal West is among the qualifiers in the coed team division.

The top 100 teams statewide qualified through sectional competition and will compete in four classes — small, medium, large and coed — beginning with preliminaries on Friday.

Small and medium team prelim performances start at 9 a.m. Friday, with large and coed preliminaries beginning at 3:30 p.m. Doors open to Grossinger Motors Arena at 10 a.m. Saturday for team finals and team awards. Organizers anticipate more than 13,000 fans to attend the two-day event.

Tickets are $10 per day for general seating and can be purchased in advance by contacting the Grossinger Motor Arena ticket office (309-434-2679). General seating tickets also will be available at the door.

This is the 15th year Bloomington-Normal has served as host for the IHSA Competitive Cheerleading State Finals. The estimated direct economic impact of hosting the 2020 IHSA Competitive Cheerleading State Finals in Bloomington-Normal is $1,073,000.
