Central Catholic High School's Katie Steinman was medalist and University High won the team championship Thursday in the Girls Class 1A Metamora Regional Golf Tournament at Metamora Fields Golf Club.

Steinman shot a 1-under 70 to edge U High's Lexi Onsrud by a stroke. Taking third was defending state champion Dani Grace Schrock of Pontiac with a 72.

U High had a 314 total while Central Catholic was second (324) and Metamora third (366). All three advanced to Monday's St. Bede Sectional at Spring Creek Golf Course in Spring Valley.

Also counting toward U High's winning total were Reagan Kennedy (79), Jaydn Spinks (80) and Jaelyn Kelly (84). Joining Steinman as scorers for defending state champ Central Catholic were Kylie Hundman (82), Faith Glazebrook (85) and Annika Snyder (87).

Area individual state qualifiers were Schrock, Eureka's Allison Pacocha (80), El Paso-Gridley's Sarah Bond (90) and Pontiac's Libby Larkin (94).

St. Thomas More Regional: Senior Alexandria Jones placed fifth with an 85 to lead Tri-Valley to second place in the Class 1A St. Thomas More Regional at Lincolnshire Country Club in Champaign.

Jones paced Tri-Valley to a 356 total to trail only St. Thomas More (328). Third-place Monticello (371) also advanced to Monday's Jacksonville Routt Sectional.

Joining Jones with counting scores for Tri-Valley were junior Lauren Christopher (88), senior Sydney Nelson (90) and junior Lauren Shively (95).

Area players advancing as individuals included Erin Turner (86), Gracie Salvator (91), Nicholle Schuerman (99) and Lauren Aldridge (100) of Olympia; and Charly Warlow of LeRoy (98).

Medalist was St. Thomas More senior Alaina Bowie with a 71.

Beecher Regional: Dwight placed third to earn a sectional qualifying berth in the Class 1A Beecher Regional at Balmoral Woods Country Club in Crete.

Dwight had a 412 total to finish behind Beecher (379) and Providence (394). Counting scores for Dwight were Isabelle Schultz (96), Kelly Deterding (97), Kendahl Weller (104) and Darien Guyer (115). The Trojans advanced to Monday's St. Bede Sectional.

Class 2A

Springfield Regional: Bloomington sophomore Genesee Greenlee and senior Jenette Hoffman advanced as individuals in the Class 2A Springfield Regional at Lincoln Greens Golf Course in Springfield.

Greenlee shot a 105 and Hoffman a 112 to be among the 10 sectional qualifiers not on advancing teams.

Quincy won the team title with a 342 and will be joined Monday in the O'Fallon Sectional by runner-up Springfield (347) and third-place Chatham Glenwood (360). BHS was sixth at 463.

Medalist was Mattoon senior Kira Wolf (75).
