Bri Bush totaled six kills and seven digs to lead the Bloomington High School volleyball team to a season-opening 25-18, 25-20 victory over Champaign St. Thomas More on Tuesday at the Robert Frank Sports Complex.

Corinna Jones had 10 assists for the Purple Raiders with Grace Sanders scoring nine service points.

LeRoy falls: LeRoy dropped a 25-20, 25-14 decision to Tolono Unity. Hallie Sammer matched Sarah Kaeb with three blocks and added nine assists. Alicia Claunch recorded three kills and Maddi Qualls had seven digs.

Streator clips Dwight: Alea Rashid and Lakia Glenn had seven kills apiece as Streator rallied for a 22-25, 25-17, 25-22 win over Dwight. Maggie McGurk had 14 assists and Delanie Johnson contributed nine digs for the Bulldogs. Rachel Dawson's seven kills topped Dwight.

PBL rallies: Kelsey Vaughn had eight kills and Kalista Klann racked up 23 assists as PBL rallied from a lopsided first-set loss to defeat Fithian Oakwood, 8-25, 25-23, 25-20. Katelyn Riffle added seven kills and Katelyn Crabb notched eight digs.

Iroquois West sweeps Donovan: Rachel Carney's 12 service points led the way as Iroquois West opened its season with a 25-13, 25-20 sweep of Donovan.

NCHS rolls at Pekin: Josef Halcomb had a hat trick with an assist as Normal Community cruised to a 7-0 season-opening nonconference win at Pekin. Michael Reibling added two goals and an assist for the Ironmen, who scored all their goals in the first half.

Jake Kimball and Griffin Bruso had the other NCHS goals, with Bruso also picking up an assist. Ryan Powers had two helpers and Cooper Zogg added one, while keeper Austin Woodside played the first half and saved both of Pekin's shots.

Pioneers tie in opener: Nate Clay's two second-half goals helped University High earn a 3-3 season-opening tie at Danville.

Jett Jenkins scored U High's first half goal with an assist from J.D. Kelley. Cayden Redd was credited with a second half assist for the Pioneers, who got eight saves from Christian Lopez.

Central drops opener: Noah Bevilacqua scored Central Catholic's lone goal in the second half as the Saints fell 5-1 to Roanoke-Benson in the season opener at Bloomington. J.C. Miklich had five saves for Central, which was outshot 9-2.

Hunter Miller had three goals for the Rockets, while Jake Weber and Emmanuel Blakes also scored.

Cornerstone rolls: Paul McBride delivered a hat trick and Moses Kabuswe contributed two goals and an assist as Cornerstone Christian opened its season with a 7-0 victory over Rantoul.

James McBride anchored a strong defensive effort whole Richard Phiri made two saves for the Cyclones, who led 4-0 at halftime and outshot Rantoul 10-2. 

Ben Brander added a goal and an assist. Clay Damkoehler had the other goal while John Barrett, Christian Noyes and Alex Anderson added one assist apiece.
