Perry leads Lincoln golfers to third: Jordan Perry shot a 74 on Tuesday to pace Lincoln High School’s boys golf team to third place in the 23-team Raider-Redbird Classic at Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State.
Aaron Butler added a 75 for the Railers, who had a 303 total to trail only St. Viator (282) and Peoria Notre Dame (295).
University High was fifth at 308. The Pioneers were led by Adam Baracani and Cole Sondgeroth with 75s.
St. Viator’s Robert Renner and Liam Wanner were co-medlists with 68s.
NCHS second at Oswego: Normal Community was second with 130 points in the Panther Stableford boys tournament at Oswego’s Blackberry Oaks.
Stableford is a modified scoring system in which players get one point for a bogey, two points for a par, four points for a birdie, etc.
Lincoln-Way East won with 143 points. Brandon Quakenbush of NCHS and Steven Mullins of Normal Community West tied for fourth place individually with 37 points.
Cornerstone wins title: Medalist Jordan Hall shot a 76 to lead Cornerstone Christian to the championship of the eight-team Ridgeview Invitational boys tournament at Indians Springs Golf Course in Saybrook.
Austin Drake added a 78 for Cornerstone, which had a 335 total. Blue Ridge and Ridgeview were next at 339.
Prairie Central prevails: Prairie Central had a 220 total to win the Olympia Invitational two-man scramble boys tournament at Atlanta’s North Greens Golf Course.
The Hawks’ Kyler Hoffman and Lincoln Slagel were second with a 68. Trevor Gold and Trevor Davis of Eureka won with a 67, leading the Hornets to a runner-up total of 222.
Bell, Saints net second: Sarah Bell tied for second with an 87, leading Central Catholic’s girls to second place in the Doc Keller Invitational at Oak Springs Golf Course in St. Anne.
The Saints had a 407 total. Kankakee Bishop McNamara, led by medalist Gina Vallone (76), won with a 347.
