BLOOMINGTON — Mahomet-Seymour High School captured the Class 1A championship Saturday in the Illinois High School Association Competitive Dance state finals at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

Mahomet-Seymour, which had the fifth-best score in Friday's preliminaries, had a 91.76 total on Saturday to edge runner-up Troy Triad with 91.72. Highland and Villa Grove tied for third at 90.80.

Bulldogs coach Margaret Miller's roster featured senior captains Elise Cabutti, Ashley Lafond and Alex Misenheimer; juniors Riley Bode, Michaiah Crozier, Autumn Hodge, Sidney Leskis, Josephine Starwalt and Dana Wonderlin; sophomores Sophie Leskis, Malea Misenheimer, Rebecca Slezak and Katie Williams; and freshman Lauren Taylor.

University High had an 86.68 score to take 10th place.

The Class 2A title was won by Geneva with a 95.26 total. Libertyville took second and Lincoln-Way West was third.

In Class 3A, the championship went to Naperville Neuqua Valley with a 96.26 score. Roselle Lake Park placed second and Lake Zurich took third.
