The Normal Community High School girls soccer team improved to 7-0 with its seventh shutout, a 3-0 decision at Edwardsville on Saturday. All of the scoring occurred in the first 9:00.

Caelyn Steffens scored in the fourth minute off an assist from Maggie Peters. Seventeen seconds later, Ryann Anderson scored off a feed from Steffens. Shannon Tomlinson ended the scoring 3:30 after that.

Both teams had six shots and NCHS goalie Emma Spader made six saves.

Saints win 3rd straight: Lauren Shanks had two goals and one assist for Central Catholic in a 3-2 victory at Urbana Uni High (2-4).

Sierra Godsey also scored for the Saints (3-4), whose other assist providers were Keira Hadley and Emma Campbell. Goalie Kylee Hadley made five saves for Central, which outshot its host, 12-10.

BHS nets 1st win: Bloomington (1-4-1) topped Judah Christian, 2-1, at Champaign.


LeRoy romps: Kelly Smith blasted two home runs and two doubles to drive in six runs for LeRoy (5-5) in a 17-0 five-inning victory over visiting Mount Pulaski. Danielle Hashew also homered and had three hits and three RBIs. Charly Warlow fanned seven in four innings of one-hit pitching.


Heyworth edges Blue Ridge: Lukas Reinthaler had four hits for Heyworth (2-3, 1-1) in a 10-9 win over Blue Ridge (5-5, 1-2) at Farmer City. Lane Mayfield had three hits and drove in four runs for the Hornets.

Joseph Gearlds had a seventh-inning grand slam for Blue Ridge, which also got a solo homer and three hits from Jacob Mozingo.
