In a battle for the top spot in the Heart of Illinois Conference, Eureka High School's volleyball team downed Deer Creek-Mackinaw, 25-23, 25-13 to remain undefeated in conference play while handing the Chiefs their first league loss.

Senior outside hitter Courtney Heffren had had 10 kills for Eureka (24-3, 10-0) with Katie Morin adding seven digs and Amy Pineda 10 assists. Shelby DeBolt had nine assists for host Dee-Mack (16-6, 9-1) with Jadyn Block contributing six digs and Carson Smalley five kills.

Central clips Olympia: Mallory Bergbower and Bailey Coffman had 13 kills each in Central Catholic's 25-22, 20-25, 25-17 Illini Prairie win over Olympia at Stanford. Kate Moorman-Wolfe had 44 assists and Bergbower 17 digs for the Saints (13-11, 2-2).

Olympia was led by Kaitlin Dean's 14 kills and Kaelyn Leverson's 28 assists.

Raiders coast by Manual: Grace Marcy had 13 digs and 12 service points to lead Bloomington to a 25-3, 25-8 Big 12 Conference win over Peoria Manual at Peoria. Bree O'Neal had nine kills for the Purple Raiders (25-3, 7-0) with Bett O'Neal contributing 15 assists.

U High cruises: Alayna Crabtree contributed nine kills as University High took a 25-23, 25-19 win over Chatham Glenwood in a Central State Eight Conference match at the U High Gym. The Pioneers (22-4, 7-0) also got 12 assists and two blocks from Macy Tongate.

Prairie Central beats Pontiac: Prairie Central earned a 25-14, 25-20 victory over Pontiac in an Illini Prairie Conference match at Fairbury. Amber Graf led the Hawks (16-7, 3-1) with seven kills, 14 service points and 13 digs. Merryn Krenz had 18 assists.

Pontiac (9-12, 0-4) got eight digs from Cassidy Ringls.

Lexington triumphs: Jayden Standish's 11 digs, 10 kills and four aces helped host Lexington (7-11, 5-4) to a 25-17, 25-22 victory over GCMS in a HOIC match. Leading GCMS (4-10, 1-8) was Madi Eberle with 13 digs.

Fieldcrest prevails: Emma Petersen had 11 kills to lead Fieldcrest (15-7) to a 25-9, 25-21 win over visiting Dwight. Lexi Jochums added 12 assists and six digs.

Tri-Valley tops EPG: Riley Owens contributed 15 assists as Tri-Valley stopped El Paso-Gridley, 25-13, 25-22, in an HOIC match at El Paso. The Vikings (16-6, 8-1) also received eight kills from Alivia Larson and 11 digs from Regan Danko. EPG (18-6, 7-3) was paced by Madi Funk's 11 kills.

Flanagan tops Ridgeview: Kayla VanWeelden had seven kills to help Flanagan-Cornell to a 25-22, 25-22 HOIC win over Ridgeview at Flanagan. Madelyn Forney added 16 assists for the Falcons (16-9-1, 5-4). River Rosales had 12 digs for Ridgeview (9-16, 3-6).

Heyworth outlasts LeRoy: Kelly Swope and Allyson Jamison each had seven kills for the Hornets in a 25-22, 22-25, 25-21 HOIC win at LeRoy. Swope also had 16 assists while Molly White had six kills and 21 digs for LeRoy.

Blue Ridge wins: Blue Ridge captured third in the Little Okaw Valley Conference Northwest Division with a 25-16, 21-25, 27-25 win over Argenta-Oreana at Cerro Gordo. Hannah Brackenhoff set a school record with 35 digs. Avery Fisher had 26 assists and Willa Manual 13 kills for the Knights (25-5).

Roanoke-Benson cruises: Maddy Oltman's eight kills and 10 digs led Roanoke-Benson to a 25-18, 25-14 win over Midwest Central. 

Clinton rolls: Riley Pruser's nine kills and Delaney Woodbury's 24 assists led Clinton to a 25-12, 25-8 win over visiting Sullivan.

Hartem coasts: Anna Hayes had 16 kills with Grace Beekman adding 12 kills and 14 assists to lead Hartsburg-Emden (19-2) to a 25-14, 25-15 win over Illini Central at Hartsburg.


U High starts fast, wins: University High scored five first-half goals and cruised to a 5-2 Central State Eight Conference win over Chatham Glenwood at Normal.

Cayden Redd had two goals for the Pioneers (16-5, 7-0). Mason Wittman and J.D. Kelley had one goal each, while U High benefited from an own goal. Kelley had two assists and Wittman one. 

Saints shut out Rantoul: Central Catholic outshot Rantoul 18-0 to claim a 2-0 victory at Sale Barn Field.

Michael Costigan had a goal and an assist for Central (8-7-4), which also received a goal from freshman Daniel Naour and an assist from Ryne Schade.

NCHS tops Urbana: Normal Community got goals from Ethan Varner, Kamoy Creary, Michael Reibling and Alex Zogg in a 4-1 Big 12 Conference win at Urbana. Reibling and Isaac Olson each had two assists. NCHS (11-3-6, 4-2-2) had 15 shots on goal to three for Urbana.

Walker keys West win: Jordan Walker scored both goals as Normal West edge Centennial, 2-1, at Champaign in Big 12 action. Archimed Sabu and Adam Conrad had assists for the Wildcats (13-5-2, 6-1-0). Jacob Davis made seven saves.

Ilonga leads BHS: Merdy Ilonga had three goals and one assist in a 7-4 Big 12 home win over Danville. Andrez Mayo added two goals, while Zane Thomas and Roberto Bucio scored one each. Jose Alvarado had three assists and Daniel Vega one for BHS (5-7-3, 3-2-2).

Cornerstone posts win: Moses Kabuswe had two goals in Cornerstone Christian's 6-0 home win over Athens on Senior Night. Also scoring for the Cyclones (17-2-1) were Brian Matipa, James Scott, Lucas Walker and Nathaniel Phinney. Alex Anderson, Kabuswe and Webby Phiri had assists.


Monticello, Tolono Unity win Illini Prairie crowns: Monticello edged Olympia for the top spot in the Illini Prairie Conference Boys Cross Country Meet at Monticello's Lodge Park. Tolono Unity captured the girls' title ahead of St. Joseph-Ogden and Olympia.

Monticello scored 51 points to outpace Olympia (57). The Spartans placed three runners in the top-10, led by Jon Neville in seventh (16:31).

Pontiac's Josh Davies was fifth, leading the Indians to fourth in the 10-team meet with 127 points.

Olympia's Payton Wille finished fifth in the girls' meet in 19:19. Tolono Unity won with 31 points, followed by St. Joseph-Ogden (49) and Olympia (74). Central Catholic's Abby Lewis finished sixth in 19:21 to lead the Saints (93) to the fourth spot.
