Prep report: Normal Community trio tabbed to all-Big 12 Conference volleyball team

League champion Normal Community High School has placed three volleyball players on the all-Big 12 Conference first team including unanimous selections Isabelle McCormick and Kate Kraft, both sophomores.

Also representing the Lady Iron on the 13-player first team was freshman Sophie Feeney.

Among the six unanimous selections were Bloomington senior Corinna Jones and Normal West sophomore Averie Hernandez, both of whom are repeat picks.

Other Intercity stars named to the first team were BHS junior Lauren Strange and Normal West senior Aniya Monla.

Other unanimous picks were Champaign Centennial's Leah Luchinski and Champaign Central's Elise Bossenbroek.

Rounding out the first team were Centennial's Maggie Pitcher, Champaign Central's Mira Chopra, Peoria Notre Dame's Mackenzie Schuler and Urbana's Raevyn Russell.

Five area stars tabbed all-Big 12: Five Intercity soccer standouts have been named to the all-Big 12 Conference first team including unanimous repeat selections Merdy Ilonga of Bloomington and Michael Reibling of Normal Community. Ilonga is a junior and Reibling a senior.

Also among the 12 unanimous picks on the 17-player first team was NCHS senior Jerry Shi. Other first-team selections were Normal West senior Alec McGinnis and junior Archimed Sabu.
