Jordan Walker's goal off an assist from Adam Conrad made the Normal West High School soccer team (17-5-2) a 1-0 Senior Night winner over Morton (14-4-1) on Thursday. West's victory total is a school record.
The Wildcats, who have won five straight, were outshot, 8-7, as goalie Jake Davis made eight saves.
U High blanks Eisenhower: University High (17-6) downed visiting Decatur Eisenhower, 12-0. The Pioneers, who rested their starters after 15 minutes, had nine goals in the first 11 minutes and 12 by halftime.
U High and Springfield finished Central State Eight Conference play with identical 8-1 records.
Nathan Clay led U High with three goals and two assists. Cam Brown and Mason Wittman added two goals apiece. Other scorers were Wyatt Berg, Sam Moore, Thomas Feely, Derek Schaefer and Nathaniel Kim.
Feely had three assists and Cayden Redd two. Others providing assists were Wittman and Moore.
BHS clinches title share: With one Big 12 Conference match remaining, Leah Anderson hammered 16 kills for host Bloomington (27-4, 9-0) during a 25-21, 25-13 victory over Peoria Notre Dame to clinch at least a share of the league crown.
Corinna Jones added 28 assists for the Purple Raiders while Fia Parker had 10 digs and Lexi Packard had nine service points. BHS ends its league schedule at Normal West on Tuesday.
NCHS prevails: Host Normal Community (12-11, 6-3) won, 25-14, 25-21, over Urbana with help from five kills apiece by Kelsey DeRoeck and Gladys Tungu.
Katie Gerig chipped in 16 assists for the Iron while Addison Bouncy had three aces and Izzy McCormick had eight digs.
Central Catholic wins: Mallory Bergbower had six kills and seven digs in Central Catholic’s 25-8, 25-12 win over Rantoul at Bloomington. Kate Moorman-Wolfe contributed 17 assists for the Saints (15-12, 4-2).
Normal West triumphs: Dara Kane's 15 assists and five aces powered visiting Normal West (20-8, 8-1) to a 25-12, 25-10 victory over Peoria High.
Kayanna Jones had six kills and Kaylor Helm five for the Wildcats while Laynie Yerington added five digs.
Eureka downs Ridgeview: Hailey Flowers provided 18 kills and three blocks for Eureka (27-3, 12-0) in a 25-7, 25-17 victory over Ridgeview (10-18, 4-8). Courtney Heffren chipped in nine digs for the Hornets while Amy Pineda had 15 assists.
Ridgeview's leaders were Mya Tinsley (three kills, five blocks) and River Rosales (eight digs).
Tri-Valley tops GCMS: Kendall Deck had six kills and 1.5 blocks for Tri-Valley (19-6, 11-1) in a 25-13, 25-12 victory over GCMS (9-14, 3-9). Riley Owens added 11 assists for the Vikings while Regan Danko had four digs.
Jessica Freehill led GCMS with five kills while Mady Schutte provided eight assists and two blocks. Madi Eberle added eight digs.
Flanagan-Cornell wins: Rachel Harrison recorded team highs of four kills and 14 digs to help Flanagan-Cornell defeat Heyworth, 25-20, 25-19, at Flanagan.
Molly Garretson also had four kills for the Falcons (19-9-1, 8-4). Kelly Swope and Morgan Spencer had four kills each for Heyworth.
Fieldcrest downs Lexington: Fieldcrest (21-7, 8-4) dropped Lexington, 25-11, 26-24, with help from Emma Petersen's five kills and nine digs. Lexi Jochums chipped in nine assists while Alaina Tjaden had three aces.
Jayden Standish had seven kills and eight digs for Lexington, which received nine assists and seven service points from Gracy Michal.
Fisher upends LeRoy: Casey Wagner's four kills keyed Fisher past LeRoy, 25-14, 25-22, at LeRoy. Morgan Shreves had 14 digs and Molly White seven kills for LeRoy.
Prairie Central bests Olympia: Lindsey Hari's 12 kills and Amber Graf's 10 paced Prairie Central (21-10, 4-3) to a 23-25, 25-16, 25-12 victory over Olympia. Merryn Krenz added 33 assists for the Hawks while Addison Cosner had 14 digs and Elly Haberkorn had four blocks.
Kalli Terrell led Olympia (13-14, 3-4) with eight kills and 13 digs while Kaelyn Leverson had 26 assists and Kate Dreyer had four blocks.
Blue Ridge dominates: Blue Ridge (28-5, 5-1) got 10 kills and nine digs from Jessie Wanserski in a 25-16, 25-12 victory over Arcola. Avery Fisher added 17 assists for the Knights while Hannah Brackenhoff had 13 digs.
EPG topples Tremont: Ashlyn Stone's 29 assists and 21 digs propelled El Paso-Gridley to a 25-13, 19-25, 25-20 triumph at Tremont.
Ashlyn Mool and Madi Funk topped EPG (20-7, 8-4) with 13 kills each. Sami Allen also had 21 digs, and Sierra Carr had four blocks.
Pontiac defeated: Madison Wright registered six kills and nine digs in Pontiac's 25-13, 25-22 home loss to Monticello.
Clinton boys win CIC: The host Clinton boys scored 31 points to win the Central Illinois Conference Meet by 25 over Tuscola. The Maroons saw Ethan Black (16:45) and Ty Brennan (16:57) place second and third behind Decatur St. Teresa's Jackson Stewart (15:15).
Also scoring for Clinton were Ian Hale (7th, 17:05), Terry Hendriex (8th, 17:14) and Reid Thomas (11th, 17:28).
For the girls, Payne Turney won by six seconds in 18:23 to help Clinton finish fourth (87). St. Teresa won with 37.
