Summaries of games played Thursday, May 12, 2011:

Tri-Valley advances in HOIC tourney: Mikaela Carr (9-4) tossed a one-hitter, striking out 13, to lead No. 2 seed Tri-Valley past No. 7 seed LeRoy, 3-0, in a quarterfinal game of the Heart of Illinois Conference Tournament at Downs.

Tri-Valley (26-5) will face No. 3 seed GCMS in a Saturday semifinal. Madison Wombles had a double  for the Vikings.

GCMS edges Dee-Mack: Jessica Hunter and Courtney Gramley had two hits apiece and GCMS (18-6) grabbed an early 2-0 lead before holding on for a 2-1 win over No. 6-seed Deer Creek-Mackinaw (13-10) in quarterfinal action at Downs. Regan Romshek scattered five hits while striking out five to gain the win for the Falcons.   

Pontiac stops Dwight: Pontiac scored four runs in the fourth inning en route to a 7-3 nonconference victory over host Dwight (20-9). Maddie Rodosky had three hits for the Trojans.
