Summaries of May 7 Intercity softball games.
Dodd fires no-hitter for NCHS: Karen Dodd (2-2) picked up her first no-hitter of the season as Normal Community (16-7, 8-1) swept a doubleheader against host Champaign Centennial. Dodd fanned seven and walked six in a 5-0 win. In the first game, Nicole Nonnemacher (11-4) and Lindsay Stotler combined on a two-hitter in a 23-1 triumph.
Nonnemacher struck out six and allowed both hits in three innings. Stotler fanned five and walked one in two innings. MaKenzie Martin had three hits. In the second game, Ali Wiegand had three hits to finish with five on the day.
BHS edges Urbana: Solo home runs by Mary Lawrence, Jayme Johnson and Julie Herek sparked Bloomington (14-8, 8-1) to a 14-13 win over visiting Urbana. Lawrence finished with four hits including a double and four RBIs. The second game of the twin bill was cancelled because Urbana didn't have enough players after losing one to injury.
Wildcats drop pair to Mattoon: Normal Community West dropped a couple of games to Big 12 Conference leader Mattoon, 8-0 and 4-3, at Maxwell Park.
Jaimee Wiseman gave the Wildcats (11-9, 3-3) a 2-0 lead in game two with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning. Wiseman finished with three hits and three RBIs while Courtney Harp had two hits including a double. Ali Cleinmark had two hits in the opener.
