Raiders edge Lincoln: Jayme Johnson staked Bloomington to an early lead with a three-run home run in the top of the first inning and drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh as the Purple Raiders topped Lincoln, 6-5, in a nonconference game at Lincoln.
The Railsplitters battled back to score twice in the fourth inning and took a 4-3 lead on solo home runs by Alyssa Stephenson and Meghan Cooper in the fifth.
A solo home run by Berta Danley gave Lincoln a 5-3 lead after six innings before the Raiders scored three times in the seventh on a two-run triple by Jessie Alvis and Johnson’s game-winning RBI.
Marissa Greer added a pair of hits for Lincoln. Dana Conway (3-3) pitched the last 2 1/3 innings to get the win for Bloomington (16-13).
Wildcats roll: Rebecca Rupard fired a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts and provided all the offense she would need with four hits, including three doubles and three RBIs, as Normal Community West (16-9, 8-3) routed Big 12 foe Champaign Central at Champaign. Ali Cleinmark was 3 for 4 and drove in four runs for the Wildcats.
