WINNETKA — Season best times were not in the cards for the Pantagraph area's two finalists in the 89th state swim meet on Saturday, but each completed his mission to medal.
Justin Alderson, a junior with the Metamora co-op, tied his Pantagraph area record time of 56.56 seconds set Friday in the 100-yard breaststroke to finish fifth.
In the same event, Bloomington junior Robby Pratt sped 57.66 for ninth, narrowly missing his school record time of 57.46 set on Friday.
Alderson warmed up by placing fourth in the 200 individual medley in 1:51.21, the second best time of his career behind Friday's preliminary time of 1:50.70.
A year ago, Alderson placed seventh in the 200 IM and ninth in the 100 breaststroke while Pratt was 35th in the breaststroke.
