MOUNT PROSPECT -Normal West High School singles player Sarah Bonnett and the Wildcats' doubles team of Brittany Funk and Lindsey Sebade won first-round matches before being knocked out in the second round Thursday at the State Tennis Tournament.

Inclement weather forced the tournament indoors and therefore canceled any consolation-bracket matches.

Bonnett downed Alyx Hays of Paris, 6-1, 6-2, before falling to Jackie Altansarnai of Plainfield North, 6-0, 6-2.

Funk and Sebade were victorious over Morris' Michelle Lutz and Breanna Black, 6-2, 6-2, before losing to Moline's Samantha Tonn and Jenna Jackson, 6-2, 6-7, 6-2.

Elsewhere in singles play, University High's Sienna Reuter dropped a first-round match to Charisma King of Kankakee, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.

Haley Ilcewicz of Lockport ousted Bloomington's Lauren Yoder, 6-0, 7-5. Central Catholic's Mackenzie Kraft was defeated by Ari Dechter of Mundelein, 6-0, 6-1.
