DECATUR -- The Normal Community West girls won their first Big 12 Conference outdoor title since 2002 by scoring 129 points Friday night at Decatur.
Normal Community took second (89) and Bloomington third (73).
The Wildcats' Taylor Kirby pole vaulted 12 feet, to break the meet record of 11-6 set by Taylor Troemel of NCHS in 2005 and 2006. Kirby also ran on the winning 800-meter relay (1:48.64) and 1,600 relay (4:13.12). The 800 relay included Alexia Taylor, Cecilia Holmes and Rachael Williams. The 1,600 relay included Jaci Clark, Bailey Kerschieter and Hannah Magnuson.
West's Emily Brelsfoard defended her 3,200 in 11:05.43 and also captured the 1,600 in 5:20.59. Kerschieter and teammate Katie Shifflet won the 800 (2:22.71) and 100 hurdles (16.03), respectively. Kerschieter also ran on the winning 3,200 relay (9:56.58) with Clark, Brianna Jacobs and Magnuson.
BHS received victories from Olivia Casey in the long jump (17-6) and Chrissy Little in the triple jump (34-8.5). The lone victory for NCHS came from Kayla Koenig in the discus (109-11).
