Savion Haywood

Bloomington's Savion Haywood shows emotion after beating Washington's Tyler Delaware in overtime to win the 132-pound weight Class 2A state wrestling in February in Champaign.

Bloomington High School senior Savion Haywood was named Big 12 Conference Wrestler of the Year along with two others on the league all-conference team released Friday.

Haywood, a state champion headed to Old Dominion, shared the top honor with Champaign Centennial's Justin Cardani and Urbana's Luke Luffman. All three were unanimous all-conference selections.

Joining Haywood as unanimous picks from the Intercity were Bloomington's Josiah Heinz and Ryan Gardner; Normal Community's Gabe Rivera and Thaddeus Nartey; and Normal West's Chad Lawyer.

Other Intercity first-team choices were Chad Bellis, Carson Oliger, Chanse Ridgeway and Jon McCullough of Bloomington; and Normal West's Aaron Shaw, Dustin Miller, Joe Mohr and Skyler Hufeld.
