BLOOMINGTON — Tate Singleton and Trevor Janicke scored goals for the Central Illinois Flying Aces in a 5-2 loss to Tri-City in a United States Hockey League game on Friday at Grossinger Motors Arena.

Singleton's goal, his 18th, gave Central Illinois a 1-0 first period lead at the 4:31 mark. Tri-City erupted for four goals in the second period to take control of the contest.

Janicke's 15th goal came with an assist from Cal Kiefiuk and Stephen Halliday in the third period.

The Aces outshot Tri-City, 33-30. Central Illinois goalkeeper Mitchell Gibson took the loss after recording 25 saves.

A announced crowd of 947 saw Central Illinois penalized 11 times for 22 minutes. Tri-City was 2-of-9 in power play opportunities.

Tri-City had eight infractions for 27 minutes. The Aces were 0-of-5 with a man advantage.

Central Illinois fell to 17-22-2-1 with the loss, their third straight and eighth in the last 10 games.

The teams meet again at 7:07 p.m. Saturday at Grossinger Motors Arena.
