MADISON, Wis. — Trevor Janicke netted a pair of goals as the Central Illinois Flying Aces claimed a 3-1 United States Hockey League win over the Madison Capitols on Friday at Bob Suter Capitol Ice.

Janicke's goals were his 18th and 19th of the year as the Aces improved to 21-27-2-1. The Capitols fell to 11-32-4-2.

Bradley Marek put the Aces on top midway through the opening period. Marek's goal was his ninth of the season and came with an assist from Sebastian Dirven.

Marek then added an assist on each of Janicke's goals, the first in the opening minute of the second period, before the Aces' team captain again found the back of the net with 2:46 remaining in the game.

Madison's Kyle Kukkonen scored his first goal of the season to account for the Capitols' only score.

Aces' goalkeeper Mitchell Gibson had 37 saves. Madison outshot the Aces, 38-34. Both teams were penalized for 11 minutes with four infractions. Each was 0-of-2 in power play opportunities.

The Aces return home to face Eastern Conference leader Muskegon at 7:07 p.m. Saturday at Grossinger Motors Arena.
