Normal Community senior Jeremy Ried scored three goals and assisted on another as the Ironmen won both the semifinal and championship matches in the Bradley-Bourbonnais All-Area Tournament on Saturday at Bradley.

In the semifinals, Ried scored a goal at the 7:30 and 20:20 marks of the first half as NCHS went on to defeat Manteno 3-1.

Seniors Kyle Wallace and Paul Ostrosky each recorded an assist for the Ironmen, who had 18 shots on goal. NCHS' defensemen kept Manteno away from the net, as goalkeeper Bryce Johnson had to stop just two shot attempts.

In the championship match, Wallace, Ried and Sam Napalatino each tallied a goal for the Ironmen en route to a 3-0 shutout of Chicago De La Salle.

Ried and Ethan Cashan posted an assist apiece, while Johnson logged four saves. NCHS had 19 shot attempts as a team.

"We kept playing better each game, and I am very pleased with our effort in our first time out this season, including the underclassmen," NCHS coach Don Ideran said.

West 9, East Peoria 0

Eight different Normal West players scored a goal as the Wildcats opened the season with a resounding 9-0 victory over host East Peoria.

Max Sylvester scored twice for the Wildcats, who led 4-0 at halftime. Other West goals were scored by Mark Backsmeier, Lucas Sylvester, Nick Jefferson, Nate Gottsacker, Brian Robb and Matt Hall.

Gottsacker and Cameron Pollit each had a pair of assists.

West enjoyed a 26-3 advantage in shots on goal. Wildcat goalkeeper Rylan Miyat made two saves.
